Turn you Bible to Isaiah 40:27-31
Isaiah 40:27–31 KJV 1900
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, And my judgment is passed over from my God? 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, That the everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; And to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk, and not faint.
The purpose of this lesson is the learn how to stay in the fight for your faith even though you have been attacked and wounded.
Even though it seems like life is falling apart and your prayers are not being answered.
This the historical context of the passage we just read.
Israel was taken in Babylonian captivity. Life as they knew had fallen apart.
The context of these words is the prophet speaking comfort to a people who have been displaced from their homes and exiled from the temple of the Lord.
Isaiah had prophesied in Chapter 39 the future fall of Jerusalem at the hands of Babylon.
The chapter stated out with Word of Comfort-and the section and the section what will cover showed the people of Israel what to do.
What happen during the exile
Temple was destroyed- the enemy want to keep us away from the presence of God and representative during the time of crisis and darkness.
Loss their Sovereignty (freedom)- The enemy want us to be in bondage to sin and the world.
Loss their Identity and hope.
What was to remedy to being restored?
Do not complain_ have a plan , have a vision, The Israelites had the Torah- Prov 29: 18
Proverbs 29:18 KJV 1900
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Wait on the Lord- plat, twist, become intertwined- ( do just do the LORD. John 17:21
John 17:21 KJV 1900
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
When we become entwined, communion, one with the LORD the will strengthened us in three ways
Mount up like wings of eagles (example eagle swooping up baby eagle_ (Deliver us from)
Run- like a run with a second wind. God give us strength to overcome
Walk— when we can’t run any more he will walk us. ( walk with us through the situation)
Jesus walk with was prayers of the saints that was going thing that was hard.
No matter what we must moving, keep pressing, toward God and not from God.
