You shall LIVE! Thats good news this morning! You shall live!
First we must see the Condition of the Bones
And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. (Eze 37:2).
The bones were in the valley. Valleys are depressed areas of land–scoured and washed out by the conspiring forces of gravity, water, and ice. Some hang; others are hollow. They all take the form of a "U" or "V." They are normally anchored by mountains. Obscured from signt unless you go down to the valley.
There were many bones
The bones were very dry. Life had left the bones. Verse said the bones cried out 11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ (Eze 37:11).
Have you ever been in that space? Hope is lost , felt cut off?
Society has become hopeless. Full of despair. People are giving up hope!
It happens . My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and his righteousness.
Secondly We must see the Concern for the bones.
Verse 3 3 And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord GOD, you know.” (Eze 37:2–3).
We must never forget that God still is concerned about his people. Even though the state of the dry bones is from their own doing. Disobedience, idolatry, complete turning away from God. He is still concerned about his children.
The Hebrew writer says Hebrews 4:13: "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
We must never forget Psalm 138:8 New King James Version: "The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands."
The Lord ask Ezekiel Can these bones live? Ezekiel answer with the appropriate answer. Lord you know. Yes the Lord who is sovereign, who is all knowing knows our end. I holding on to Jeremiah 29:11 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Je 29:11).
Psalm 37:23-24, NLT: "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand."
Whatever you are facing right now. remember the Lord is acquainted with your griefs and sufferings
We must know he is is concerned but more so He cares
Yes Finally He is Cares for the Bones
4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5 Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD.” (Eze 37:4–6).
I love the chapter in Ezekiel. It gives us such hope. The Lord said prophesy to these bones and that shall live! Just as the Lord created man from the dust and breath into his nostrils the breath of life. He can breath new life into our dead situations.
Ezekiel does as the Lord says and something miraculous happens.
A great sound came
A rattling
The bones came together
bone to bone. (this means the bone which were disjointed and scattered came together bone to bone. Proper bone to proper bones 8 And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. (Eze 37:8).
The church sometimes appear as the bones that have come toghter but we have no breath. Pneuma the breath of God. Today that is the Holy Spirit!
We need to pray for the breath of God
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love the way you love,
and do what you would do.
2 Breathe on me, Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until my will is one with yours,
to do and to endure.
3 Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with you the perfect life
for all eternity.
When we do that 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. (Eze 37:10).
The Lord will take you from No Hope to full of Hope
He is able
11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel.
