Mark 11:23–24 ESV
23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Miss America
Cheryl Salem, Former Miss America from Mississippi.
Cherly Salem as a little girl, her trust and confidence were torn apart when she was abused and mistreated by a close relative.
Not only that , but everything seemed to be against her.
She was from a poor family in a poor town in Mississippi, the poorest state in the country.
Anyone looking into that little girl’s smudged face would have said she was trapped, but Cheryl had an inner determination that transcended her circumstances.
She wanted to be Miss America so she could tell people about her faith in Jesus.
The dream was shattered when, at the age of twelve, she was in a brutal car accident that seemed to steal her dream forever.
Her little body flew through the windshield, and the glass tore up her face.
As a result of the accident on leg was shattered and grew in shorter than the other, so she walked with a limp. She’d never seen anybody limp down the Miss America runway.
Scarred, half crippled, Cheryl could have thrown in the towel. but she didn’t.
She asked God what she had to do to get her leg to the right length. The Lord led her to Mark 11:23-24 which talks about speaking to mountains and having faith and not doubting, and so she began to proclaim that God was going to heal her.
She took those verses to heart and meditated on them and God began to re-write her future.
She heard about an evangelist coming to a nearby town, and that night she went to his meeting and was miraculously healed.
She then worked her way through college and began entering pageants.
She couldn’t afford $1000 gowns. So she and her sister would by fabric and paid a seamstress $15 dollars to make a dress, and then they sat at the kitchen table to put the rest together.
God provided the promise but it was up to her to go after those promises, do what she could do, and believe God for what she couldn’t do.
She moved on to the Miss America pageant and won the crown.
She used her year as Miss America to tell people about Jesus. The committee even told her that they were looking forward to the next because they were so tired of hearing about Jesus.
Jesus Spoke to sickness
Luke 4:38–39 ESV
38 And he arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her behalf. 39 And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.
Matthew 9:6–7 ESV
6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” 7 And he rose and went home.
John 5:8–9 ESV
8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.
John 4:50–53 ESV
50 Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. 51 As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was recovering. 52 So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” 53 The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” And he himself believed, and all his household.
Jesus Spoke the weather
Mark 4:35–41 ESV
35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Jesus Spoke to a Tree
Mark 11:12–14 ESV
12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. 13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.
Confession means to say the same as. Jesus did what He saw the Father do.
John 5:30 ESV
30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
Kenneth Hagin:
Kenneth received healing of a deformed heart and an incurable blood disease while on his deathbed because he believed these words in Mark 11:24 which were spoken from the lips of Jesus: “…What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them"!
He ways on his death bed as a 16 year old boy:
“I learned as a young boy as I lay on the bed of sickness to listen to my Teacher, the Holy Spirit. I confessed Mark 11:24 over and over again on the bed of sickness and said to the Lord, “Lord, Your Word says, '…What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe…'(Mark 11:24). Lord, I've prayed, and I believe.” Then I received my answer. I heard that inward voice in my spirit, and I recognized it as the Voce of the Lord. He said to me, “You believe all right – as far as you know.”
Then down in my spirit, I heard the Holy Spirit quote the rest of that verse: “…. BELIEVE THAT YE RECEIVE THEM, AND YE SHALL HAVE THEM” (Mark 11:24).
Suddenly, I got the revelation of that scripture and I saw where I had been missing it! I was only quoting part of Mark 11:24: “… What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe….” But I wasn't quoting the last part of that verse, which says “….believe that ye RECEIVE them(whatsoever you desire), and ye shall have them”(Mark 11:24).
I said to the Lord, “Now I know what I've got to do. I've got to begin to believe I receive healing for my paralyzed body right now, while I'm still lying here helpless. While I'm lying here bedfast, I've got to believe I receive healing for my deformed heart and incurable blood disease.”
