The apostle Peter wrote this letter to the Jews Dispersed in Asia minor who were experiencing persecution at the hands of the Roman ruler Nero because of their faith in THE LORD Jesus.
The theme of this letter is grace (charis {10x} {Grace 8x/Favor 2x}) which Peter knows a lot about. It was Peter who in the face of trouble denied Jesus 3 times exclaiming “I do not know this man!” But Jesus showed grace (Abounding Favor) to Peter after the resurrection beside the sea of Galilee asking him 3 times “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” to which Peter replied, “yes Lord you know that I love you” and Jesus charged him, the one who denied Him to “TEND MY SHEEP.”
In this Letter Peter is keeping the charge of Jesus and tending His sheep. Today I tend to you through the Word of God proclaiming the truth that Peter expresses in this letter, that regardless of what you are facing or how you are feeling, God grace is sufficient for us and because of the Resurrection of Jesus we hope.
CPS: Today, I want you to know my friend that by the Grace of God we have hope in the face of trouble through the Great salvation that Jesus imparts to those who trust in Him.
I. Our Salvation is Caused by God (3)
Exp: Our Salvation is according to goodness of God who chose us in Jesus before the foundation of the world. Through His Great (polys - great degree) Mercy (eleos-....) brings about a new birth by grace through faith in the crucified and resurrected Jesus. Caused to be born again (Greek Verb) anagennaō which means “Give new birth”. Your salvation is not of your doing it is the work of God who breathes spiritual life upon a person dead in their trespasses and sin.
ILL: 10,000 Illustrations “new creation”?
