Psalm 25:1–15 NLT
O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. For the honor of your name, O Lord, forgive my many, many sins. Who are those who fear the Lord? He will show them the path they should choose. They will live in prosperity, and their children will inherit the land. The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant. My eyes are always on the Lord, for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies.

This Psalm, again is a Psalm of King David. The first 3 verses in this chapter mainly focus on a prayer that King David lifted up to God.

I. The prayer—vv. 1–3

Psalm 25:1–3 (NLT)

1 O Lord, I give my life to you. 2 I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. 3 No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.

A. Trust—vv. 1, 2. Trust in God and be not ashamed.

Psalm 25:1–3 “1 O Lord, I give my life to you. 2 I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. 3 No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.”

Paul says almost the same thing in Romans 1:16 “16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

We are not to be embarrassed, ashamed, timid concerning Jesus.

B. How often do we try to comfort others don’t we? Oh, don’t worry about it, Im sure God forgives you. We don’t really like others to feel bad about their sinning do we? Well, they better feel bad, then repent. v. 3 tells us again: Allow those who sin against God to be ashamed.

II. Can you all hear the desperate words of David? He is reaching out to God, needing Him and wanting Him to take care of things. Anyone do this last week except me? LOL—vv. 4–7

Psalm 25:4–7 “4 Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. 5 Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. 6 Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. 7 Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord.

A. We need to make sure we are becoming quiet, listening for the Holy Spirit to guide us.—v. 4. Know the path of the Lord.

B. It’s time for us to be in the “receiving” mode, quiet, focused, waiting on God to guide us in his Loving way.—v. 5. Wait on the Lord for truth. Christ is Truth, His guidance is a refreshing feeling isn’t it?

John 14:6–7 “6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”

C. Deliverance—vv. 6, 7. Being delivered from sin, according to the Lord’s mercy. I am so thankful for this scripture, my youth, wow..........

" Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. 7 Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth.”

III. King David tells us here in verses 8-10,

Psalm 25:8–10 “8 The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. 9 He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. 10 The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.

IV. The pardon—v. 11.

A. Sin—“O Lord, pardon mine iniquity.”

B. Scope—“For it is great.”

John 3:16–17 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

Christ came into the world not to condemn it but to convert it.

IV. The person—vv. 12, 13

A. A Respect—v. 12. You cannot love without respecting. Can we? I don’t think so.....

V. We are promised in v. 14

A. Almost a Secret promise,. Those who fear or respect Him, He is there for those people.

VI. The protection of God in verse 15 is almost to good to be true isn’t it? I can see why unbelivers are so bold in their claims. No way can He save my child, No way can anyone ever part the Red Sea, No way…No Way…No way...

How sad isn’t it? Not believing in Jesus Christ.....

A. Is our Dedication completely on our God?—“eyes are ever toward the Lord.”

B.We are protected by just asking....... Deliverance—“for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.” (away from my enemies)

God can and will protect us only as we remain under His wings. If we are disobedient, He cannot protect us.

Amen

Let’s all stand and sing our last Hymn this morning,
