The Holy Spirit

Paul commanded all Christians to be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18). Jesus told His followers to tarry in Jerusalem until they had this power (Luke 24:49). All God’s people need to know what it means to be filled with the Spirit, to have the fruits of the Spirit in daily operation, and to use the gifts of the Spirit.
THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD
I. THE SPIRIT OF GRACE
Grace is the unmerited favor of God. In other words, it is receiving something we do not deserve.
II. THE SPIRIT OF LIFE
A. Creation - The Spirit always produces life. He produces both physical as well as spiritual life.
B. Conversion - This new life is nothing that we do on our own; it is what God has already done.
C. Confidence - The Spirit sets us free from the law and gives us new life in Christ.
III. THE SPIRIT OF ADOPTION
All are born in sin - Salvation makes us children of God. We are adopted into His family.
A. Spirit of adoption
B. sincere approach
C. spiritual acceptance
IV. THE SPIRIT OF HOLINESS
III. THE SPIRIT OF SUPPLICATION
III. THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
III. THE SPIRIT OF GLORY
A. The reproach - Being reproached for the name of Christ is proof that the spirit of glory is upon us. When we are reproached for Christ the Spirit is glorified. Thus we should be happy.
B. The reckoning - Our sufferings are not worthy to be compared with the glory of God.
Stephen was glorified when he was stoned to death. Christ received him into heaven.
As a human body had various parts with different names and functions, so the Spirit has various names, yet is one Spirit, doing the work of God.
