Places to Consider

Text: John 14:1-3
John 14:1–3 KJV 1900
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Thought: Some Important Places to Consider there's a certain place...

WHICH IS PREPARED FOR THE CHILD OF GOD

This place is real

John 14:3 KJV 1900
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Heaven is not some fairy tale, it is as real as Asheboro or Ramseur!

This place is beautiful

1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV 1900
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Nothing on earth compares with heaven. No sunrise, no sunset, no mountain range, no ocean waves, no forest, now field, nothing on earth can compare with the beauty of heaven!
Not only is the place Jesus prepared fo the child of God real and beautiful, but ...

This place is assured

1 Peter 1:3–5 KJV 1900
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
It is reserved = kept, awaiting the child of God. No one will get to heaven and be told there is no room for them. For the child of God there is already a room prepared and waiting.
The first place is the is the place prepared for the child of God, but to get to that place we must go to the place...

WHICH THE LORD JESUS TOOK TO MAKE HEAVEN POSSIBLE

While we are sinners and do not deserve heaven, Jesus went to a place called Calvary so that we could be with Him. There...

Jesus became our substitute

Isaiah 53:6 KJV 1900
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
There...

Jesus suffered for our sins

Isaiah 53:5 KJV 1900
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed.
1 Peter 2:24 KJV 1900
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
There...

Jesus satisfied God's requirements for our sins

Hebrews 10:12 KJV 1900
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
He died for us so that we could be forgiven…Romans 5:8 “8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
My friends the place Jesus took to make heaven your home was your place on the cross!
We have seen the place prepared for the child of God, the place Jesus took to make heaven your home, and lastly there is the place...

WHICH EACH OF US NEEDS TO TAKE TO MEET OUR LOVED ONES AGAIN

We must take our rightful place as sinners

Romans 3:23 KJV 1900
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

We must come to the place of repentance and receive the Lord Jesus as our Saviour

John 1:12 KJV 1900
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Conclusion:
My friends, I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, but one thing I know for certain, if you leave this life without knowing Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will be lost for all eternity.
As I have already stated, I never knew Darrell in this life, but I know today that if Darrell were here, he would agree that you need to make sure of where you will spend eternity. I will close out this part of the service with this simple request, If you are not sure where you will spend eternity, will you please come find me today before we leave this place?
Let’s pray...
Committal: Psalm 23
Psalm 23 KJV 1900
A Psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
