III. The Miracles of Jesus. Vs.22-56
One statement we can live by:
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
Has the Lord ever failed?
Here are three EXHIBITS that show Christ is all you need:
I. The Call For Help. Vs.41-42
I. The Call For Help. Vs.41-42
Worship. V.41a
41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet,
“fell down at Jesus’ feet” (Luke 5:8; 17:16; Revelation 5:8)
Prayer. V.41b
and besought him that he would come into his house:
“into his house”
(John 11:21)
Desperation. V.42
42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
“one”
The boy of Nain was the only son of his mother (Luke 7:12)
The little maid of Jairus was his only daughter (Luke 8:42)
The lunatic boy was the father's only son (Luke 9:38). (i)
“she lay a dying”
(Romans 5:12)
II. The Cause For Hope. Vs.49-50
II. The Cause For Hope. Vs.49-50
The news from home. V.49
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
The news from Heaven. V.50
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
“believe only”
(Mark 9:23-24; Romans 4:17; 20)
III. The Committee For Hoplessness. Vs.51-53
III. The Committee For Hoplessness. Vs.51-53
Jesus went in with His disciples. V.52
51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
“no man to go in”
(Matthew 6:5-6; Acts 9:40)
“Peter, and James, and John”
Luke 8:15 - “and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred” (Mark 4:20).
In John 15, they are given as: “fruit” (John 15:2), “more fruit” (John 15:2), and “much fruit” (John 15:5).
They match the three stages of Christian growth as given in Revelation 17:14—“called, and chosen, and faithful.”
The three levels of Christian experience in the fight against sin and the Devil are:
“they overcame him
[1] by the blood of the Lamb, and
[2] by the word of their testimony; and
[3] they loved not their lives unto the death” (Rev. 12:11).
Among the apostles, there were three circles of fellowship with Christ:
there were the twelve;
then there was Christ’s “inner circle”—Peter, James, and John;
and finally there was the “beloved disciple,” John.
Jesus left out the doubters. Vs.52-53
52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
“they laughed him to scorn”
(Job 12:4; Psalm 22:7)
IV. The Completion For Help. Vs.54-56
IV. The Completion For Help. Vs.54-56
What Jesus had to do. V.54
54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
It was on a (day of the week you got saved), Somebody touched me. Must have been the hand of the Lord!
Her reaction to Jesus. V.55
55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
The soul inside you is where life exists.
The spirit was “still born” so “ye must be born again”
Her parent’s reaction. V.56
56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
A clear picture of salvation by grace through faith:
Someone begs God in desperation.
Christ agrees.
One touch brings them alive.
Christ commands the next step.
