Isaiah 53:1-3 “Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.”
1 Peter 2:24-25 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

Romans Road

1. We are all sinners, born in sin imputed to us by Adam

Romans 3:10 “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;”
Psalm 53:1-3 “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good. God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. Every one of them has turned aside; They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.”
Isa 53:5-6 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
1 Peter 2:24-25 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

2. All mankind is lost apart from the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We are all guilty.

Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Sin is missing the mark, Anything contrary to the character of God.
From the various words that are used for sin, five specific elements need to be included when dealing with the definition of sin: first, sin is selfishness; secondly, sin is a transgression of known law; thirdly, sin is a wrong attitude and a wrong desire of the will or the self; fourthly, sin is unbelief; and fifth, sin is the voluntary disobedience of an explicit command of God. 3. God made the way for us to be reconciled to Him through Jesus paying for sin in our place.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” penalty for sin is death physical and spiritual (separation from a holy God)
1 Peter 2:24-25 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

4. The Penalty for sin is death, physical and spiritual (separation from a Holy God)

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Mercy - not getting what we deserve - Grace - getting what we do not deserve

5. The promise of everlasting life is given to us by grace through faith in the name of Jesus.

Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 “For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” John 5:24 ““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”

6. We enter a new relationship as children of God. Renewed fellowship, adoption into God’s family, no condemnation, so separation.

Romans 5:1 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,”
Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
