“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will rise up over the dust of this world.
“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to save us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will save us out of your hand, O king.
“But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods, and we will not worship the golden image that you have set up.”

so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and confirmed and one which enters within the veil,

Because his promises are confirmed
Because his promises are confirmed
For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm the promises given to the fathers,
For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute.
In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, guaranteed it with an oath,

Then Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said,
behold, I am laying a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece alone, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said.”
And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water.
When it was time to present the meal offering, the prophet Elijah came forward and said, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel! Let it be known today that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your bidding.
Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God; for You have turned their hearts backward.”
Then fire from the Lord descended and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the earth; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
When they saw this, all the people flung themselves on their faces and cried out: “The Lord alone is God, The Lord alone is God!”
