What Homosexuality Isn’t

Matthew 19:1–6

Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” And that’s where we’ve come today. We’re being forced into accepting the homosexual lifestyle as if it’s the next process in our evolution. Here’s what homosexuality isn’t and Biblical marriage is:

I. It Isn’t Genetic:

a. Homosexuality is not a genetic problem; it’s a moral problem (Leviticus 18:22). It is a reprobate mind that promotes this lifestyle (Romans 1:26-28). It is a sin against God; unless forgiven, it will be judged at the Final Judgment (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). If this is your lifestyle, God says, “Don’t deceive yourself: you’re not going to heaven.” But, there’s hope for you because, Verse 11, says, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” There is only one sexual relationship sanctioned and hallowed by the Lord, and that is one man married to one woman in holy matrimony that is a lifetime commitment ’til death do them part.

II. It Isn’t Natural:

a. Homosexuality is not a natural problem; it’s a spiritual problem (Mark 7:21-23). These things come out of the human heart. But here’s what the grace of God does to those things, those hidden desires that human beings have: He forgives our sins. He creates in us a new heart. He gives us the power to live a godly life. We’re all born in sin, but that does not make any sin acceptable that God condemns. Would God cripple someone and then blame them for limping? Would God give a person an uncontrollable desire and then say, “If you do that, you have sinned”? No. Homosexuality is not a natural problem, it’s a spiritual one.

III. It Isn’t a Personal Problem:

a. Homosexuality is not a personal problem; it’s a social problem (Leviticus 18:22-24). This is why God destroyed the Canaanites, Sodom, and Gomorrah (Genesis 19). It was the downfall of Jerusalem (1 Kings 14:24-25). The Greek Empire and the Roman Empire suffered the same fate. They began to decline because of sexual immorality. People say, “It makes no difference what two consenting adults do so long as no one gets hurt.” But innocent people do get hurt, and we, as a society, carry the baggage. We pay the debt. Sin is an equal-opportunity employer, and other people get hurt. It’s a sin against society. And we, as Christians, must have compassion for those struggling with this moral failure as we would with a person struggling in any area, but it’s one thing to help people who struggle against sin; it’s another to give in to people who parade it and promote it (Romans 1:32).

IV. It Isn’t Hopeless:

a. Homosexuality is not a hopeless situation. There is hope. It’s called the precious Blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ! Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Some of the believers in the Church at Corinth, God delivered from these very things and what he did for them, He’ll do for us (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
