Honoring God by Winning the Saved & the Lost | James 5:19-20 | Pastor Jose Brevil

So our message this morning is about honoring God by winning the save and the lusts honoring God by winning the safe and the lost. Some of you will say, Jose winning the save. What do you mean those of you who are Christians? Sometimes you messed up, okay? Sometimes you're not working the way that you supposed to walk. And actually the word that it's going to be using the text that we're going to use the bad converting, is too much converting the safe. So even though you already safe, but a lot of us needs to be won over again. So honoring God, by winning the saved and the lusts. See when a Christian is not working, according to the way that they supposed to walk recalled. That backsliding. Any backsliders in the house, maybe you'll find out at the end. You might be one. Okay, so that's why it. Now, Jim and the book in verse 19 to 20 and it is a talking to us about backsliders in what should we do? As a result 5 verse 19 to 20, says my brother's. If anyone among you Wonders, that means you're straying away from the truth and someone brings him back.

Let him know that will ever bring back a sinner from his wandering. Will save his soul from death and will recover. And will cover a multitude of sins. So honoring God by winning the save. So let's look at the taxpayer and let's pick it up. Piece by piece with John. James is saying they're Jim says, my brother's notice here. It didn't say pastors, If anyone among you wonders from the truth. He says, my brother's which also means my sisters, my brothers and sisters. We all of us are prone to wonder where we walk away from the faith, depending on what we might be going through or whatever situation that we might be facing. And hear James is saying, hey, instead of having a judgmental attitude towards somebody who is wandering from the face that needs the moving away. They are airing from the truth. They moving away from the truth. James is saying a hour attitude as Believers is that we need to seek to bring them back. My brothers, If anyone among you wonders from the truth. That's why church membership is important than we need to identify a church. That is ours until Thursday. This is my church just as the people that I fellowship with these other people I want in my life and eyes I live. So, when I am there. When I'm wondering from the faith, I can have somebody to bring me back. Says my brothers, If anyone among you run those from the truth and someone bring him back, that's the problem, you know? Right now we have a movement, a lot of Believers when you meet them, but I don't do Church. You know how I pray at home? I read my Bible at home.

You living in this obedience, you know, by doing such a thing by saying that that you become like your own church. Okay. The Bible says, where two or three are gathered. So it needs to be at least 2 or 3. If you cannot do Church by yourself, you need to be with other people because all of us are prone to wonder. Okay? Some of us longer than others but we are prone to wonder. The Bible says, all of us like sheep have gone astray. We have turned to our own ways but the lord has laid on him. The iniquity of us. All, see, all of us are prone to wonder and that's why we need to be part of a fellowship so that when it is our time of wondering that people will bring us back and when somebody else is wandering, then it is your turn to bring them back. My brothers If anyone among you wonders from the truth and someone brings him back. Look at verse 20, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner, the wonder-worker. Well, he is wondering, will save his soul from death. This is serious business right there. Okay, people who all wandering from the face can experience here talking about physical death, sucking your about physical death because you would believe her. You know, deliveries we have Assurance of salvation but here is talking about save you stole from Death. That is a physical death here and as Christians, we cannot be toying with send get said, it's you will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. See, we're leaving an era where everybody wants to mind their own business, right? A lot of time, you might see somebody going the wrong way and you afraid to approach them because they're not always approachable.

Hey, am I the only one of their living good? That's our culture today. Hey my business is my business. It is not your business but not for the believer. A church is a spiritual hospital. We all have to be involved in each other's life. A church is a family. but I know now, when we say family, It doesn't really resonate as it should, because we have so many broken families. And as such we would treat the church, the same as another broken family and we don't know how to relate to one another, but the church is a family. And the way that a family supposed to function is that we always together for life, no matter what happens, no matter what state you in, I am still going to be there for you, through thick and thin, Because We Are Family. So, when we say the church is the family. It's means that we are in Covenant relationship. That's why I wouldn't be in church with Fellowship together with members of the same church. We are in a covenant relationship to one. Another where I care for you and you care for me, you responsible for me and I am responsible for you. That's what doing church together means. That's what it means to be part of a fellowship, it is a hospital gay. That means we all have issues. K Hospital, you go there for help, some of us are better than others case. Some of us are critical patients in ICU. Some of us is just emergency. We just slap our fingers. Some of us, we just recovering in a room with some of us, we are the nurses and the doctors were sometimes, our patients to cake. So the church is a spiritual hospital. We are there for one another, and we have to be involved in each other's life. Any Matthew 18, it gives us a blueprint when somebody opens you, which applies to our tax. Because if you part of the Church community, you walk away. You wonder from the faith, Your Back Fighter than you have offended me because I no longer have you in my life. So now it says, if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If you listen, you have gained your brother, amen. That's you've been messing up. Okay, you cutting out, you know, you, I see what you doing. You know, it's not going to be beneficial to you. Is going to be detrimental to your life, and I think it's time for you to start walking with the Lord. Again, man, you write. I've been thinking about that too. The best thing ever. But is that the way that he always goes down, most of the time to step your way that it goes down. And, you know, even though you will present to them Bill Falls, what they doing wrong? You know, they refuse to repent. This is but if he does not or she does not, listen, take one or two other, Along with you that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three through the person doesn't think like they're doing anything wrong. So, that's the process that Jesus established to us in the Book of Matthew and he tells us that's how you try to restore one-on-one. You bring a small group with you, if they don't, you get the church involved and he still don't want to repent, you question, their salvation and you treat them as an unbeliever and the gold. Paul also addressed, this in Corinthians tells us is to shame them. To bring them back to the Lord, my brother's, If anyone among you wonders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that. Whoever brings back a center from he's wondering, will save his soul from death, and cover a multitude of sin. Some sins will lead to physical death and Also, when you restore that person, you will cover a multitude of sins for them. If they were not Believers. And now, they become Believers, you save them from a lot of future sins that they might have committed. And if it's a fellow believer, you cover that sin and then now you looking them on new with their new walk with God. See that's here. It's it's a physical death because you already believe her cuz we know whoever that the Bible that God gives Jesus, no one can snatch him from the father's hand. We have security of Salvation that spiritual death, but to somebody is luck, that would be spiritual death for them because they never know Christ, but it's physical death and it also can be hardship. And failure to experience the Abundant Life, as a consequences of sin, have you ever seen some miserable Christians?

K some hardships that we face has nothing to do with sin. Remember job, Kate as we stated in the Book of James. But there are some hardship, you know, as remember, when we're steady thing about prayer, right? After we talked about self-harming, if any of you safe journey of yourself, wearing then what was the conversation changed to the confession of sin? There are some problems that we face in life, it is because of our sins and here is saying that you do a. You will save them from Death. That means you saved them from physical death and you also save them from spiritual misery because I've seen a lot of people who are not Christians, that are happier than a Christian, because the Christian and I just not really walking as they ought to walk with God. So here's the message in one sentence, today, helping believers. And unbelievers, say yes to Jesus, in every aspect of their lives and seeking to restore. Those who have strayed away must be priority for every follower of Jesus Christ, helping, Believers and unbelievers, say yes, to Jesus, that means being obedient to Jesus in every aspect of their lives and seeking to restore. Those who have strayed away must be priority. For every follower of Jesus Christ, father be with us now and help us load. Got to learn how we can help others to walk with you and other. And those who don't know you to put their faith in you three, reasons to focus on winning the save and the loss. The first one is that backsliding is dangerous, backslide. Is dangerous. When a Christian was supposed to be walking in obedience, rather is walking in Disobedience. This is very dangerous. The Bible says, you know, it would have been better for you to never have walk with God than, to start walking with God and turn away back sliding is dangerous business. It is dangerous to the back slider himself, because as we saw in the taxes, like the back side of his face discipline, which can also include physical death, because that's what we see in the book of Hebrews in, Hebrews chapter 12, verse 5 to 8, it says and you had and have you forgotten the exultation that addresses you as son's, my son do not regard lightly what the discipline of the Lord, Noah Beery, when reproved by him for the Lord, does what discipline? The one he loves. And he what? Chastise is, every son, whom he receives. So if you are back sliding and you seem nothing happened to you, Maybe you're not even backsliding. You just acting like how you are. That you don't even know the Lord but if you are working with the Lord, you are a Believer. And then you not walking with God, you working in this obedience. It might be time to do some self-examination because the Bible says, examine yourself to see whether you are in the face or not can see that's the thing with church, you know this physical church. We all here we all see each other but don't also the invisible church. We don't know what's really in. Okay. Only us and God know, I don't know if anyone of you are safe. I hope that you all are safe. I only know for myself, I don't even know what my wife. You know, I can tell she is you nobody knowing your annoying or hard, but I do not know for sure, you know, how a lot of people can fake it for quite a while, and our slogan, in the culture is fake it till you. Do you doing that, huh?

So if you are a Believer and you not working with God, discipline should follow in your life, you should have some problems in your life, but if you see that it's all going Rosie and nothing's happening, maybe you don't belong to the Lord. Okay? Because the Bible says in John 10, he says, my sheep knows my voice, and they know me. See it is for discipline that you have and do or The God is treating you as Sons for what son. Is there? A woman, his father does not discipline if you are left without discipline in which all have participated then you are what illegitimate children or not. Since I'm the one who say that lady you were that save. I'm thinking too straight from the text in the book of Hebrews here. It says that if you're not working or God, no discipline, maybe you notes on C, maybe you don't belong to the father 1st, John 5:16 tells us the same thing. If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that leading to death, he shall ass. And God will give him life to Those who commit sins that do not lead to death to see a thing concept. There there is sin that leads to death. I do not say that one should pray for that. This is not a specific seeing. This is continual rejection and walking in this obedience and at one point got my dick. You home early?

Remember ananias and Sapphira. The lie to the Holy Spirit and what did they do? They were just carrying the bodies. Does that mean that Saturday night in heaven, but it just God took them out early for this obedience, a Christian is expected to be walking with God. We see that also in 1st Corinthians 11:30. Does that is why many of you are weak and ill and some have died. Physical death because of our Disobedience to Christ walking in Disobedience can cause us to die. I physically taken from this Earth earlier than we shoot. That's why backsliding is dangerous. Sin is a serious is serious. And towing Wilson ultimately will be detrimental to the backslider. See, not only backsliding is dangerous to the backslider. Backsliding is also dangerous to the church. Riding is also dangerous to the church. If you have somebody in the church, that is not walking with God and constantly walking in this obedience. What do you think will happen?

Look at his crazy ass is 9:18. It says, wisdom is better than weapons of war. Look at the second part, but one sinner does, what? Destroys much good? Somebody was not working. Google, what are they going to do? Big going to come to the church and just gossip all day. Do you think that when when people are going down, do they go down by themselves? They usually take somebody with them. So bike riding is not only dangerous to the backslider, then still backsliding is very dangerous to the church and that's why you sorted Matthew. It says, when you try to restore them one-on-one to, then you get the church involved, they still know that you need to consider them as a gentile and a tax collector. Treat them as an unbeliever, an email, in 1st Corinthians. Paul even says you need to put them out of the church. That's what you call church discipline. Put them out at the church so that they would be shamed. And hopefully then they will turn back. C1 center with destroys much good. A backslider is bad news for everybody, but the deletions 59 says A little leaven Leavens the whole lump A little leaven leavens the whole lump easier to follow the bad stuff then it is like to the good. See a backslider, all that they would come to do in a church. Will be destroying the church. They will try to take the tree down with them. They not going down alone, you see, unless you stay close to the truth, you will start to drift away. And people start to drift away is because they stay away from the truth. They no longer have their personal Bible reading time, they no longer have personal prayer time or they used to come every week. Now this stuff skipping week that used to sit sit in the front and they start sitting in the back. Okay, I'm not talking to anybody. Sleep is slowly. Can I get out? I'll send this movie all the time just to sit in the front of you start slowly moving, very slow and gradual process. Just like you do backslide, you know, doing it just backs. Like they used to come to you know, you do a midweek service to do in the old days, we had that but you know what? They would start skipping. Then start skipping some Sunday mornings and then, you know, two Sundays than 3:00 and then them, then you don't see them anymore, okay? Unless you stay close to the truth, you will start to drift away. That's what Hebrews 10 2425 says, do not forsake assembling together. Because that's the way that God wants us to do life. Look at Hebrews 2 verse 14, we must pay much closer. Attention to what we have heard less, we do what? Drift away the moment, you start questioning the Bible of questioning the message instead of going to the word and then just seeing how you can apply to your life and then seeking the scripture for yourself and to grow, you will be drifting away. I love the way, the Warren wiersbe puts it. It says sin in the life of a Christian is worse than sin in the life of an unbeliever. We expect on safe people to send. But God expects his children to do what obey his word. When somebody was not a Christian is sitting there acting exactly how they should be acting. But when the leavers are sitting, This is really bad news. So what should we do? This passage is not as much as about the back slider. It is much more about those people around the backsliders. What do you do? So what are we to do? When a fellow believer, wanders from the truth, we need to pray for them. Remember, we were in this section here about prayer, praying fervently, so we need to pray for the straying believer. We need to pray for them, and after we pray for them, we need to move toward the direction of our prayer. Do you agree? Then we need to intervene but a lot of us we just want to pray, you know, and then we don't want to move to where the direction of our prayer. If you're praying for somebody, you see that they are backsliding. Then you need to move toward your prayers which is to intervene. Whenever you're excited about that. FIFA 20 of us brain is easy but we do not want to intervene and I understand that in our the nature of our culture. Now. People who are backsliding, may not make it easy for us to intervene but God is still in us. A when somebody's backsliding you need to pray for them and you also need to intervene Remember again, the church is a spiritual Hospital. The church is a spiritual family. We cannot be passive in the family. We can be passive, Christians, we have to be active in each of our in each other's lives. For the bottom line is, we have a duty to save fellow Believers from physical death and spiritual misery.

I hate it when I see Christians, just living. And then you just see their lives, just like a world win. not just because of the, you do natural consequences or probably just got for the trial in their life, but just because of the way that they live, And as a result of their life is just a whack, their job, their life is just a mess, but God calls us to live the Abundant Life. I came that you might have life and have it to the fool. So as Believers, it is our duty to us and save the same. By getting them away from Spirit is physical death and spiritual misery. Second one when we helped to win the safe and the love, we are becoming more humble. When we helped to win the safe and the loss, we are becoming more humble. Because we are no longer acting judgmental. Because it could have been us.

the meanest, but for the grace of God, So we need to be humble when we see somebody backsliding. We need to pray, we need to intervene in their life, but we should not take the judgmental posture Galatians. 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual, should do what the restore him in a spirit? How gentleness keep watch on yourself. Less you to be tempted.

See this fast is right about the backsliders about people around the back side, it's about us. So let's read with me again. Brothers, if anyone is cut in any transgression, what should you do with spiritual, you should restore him how in a spirit of gentleness, never a spirit that I'm better than you. Okay. Never never. And as Believers, we need to be showing Mercy to one another. We need to restore the backslider. In love, love is always the right way to do anything. James 3:17 says, but the wisdom from above is for sweat fewer than Peaceable gentle open to reason. Mercy and good fruit Imports, true and sincere, that means to be our attitude when we reach out to a fellow believer, who is backsliding, who is not walking. According to God's way what is not walking in. Obedience 1st, Peter 4:8 says, keep love above all. Keep loving one, another how earnestly deeply truly. Since love covers a multitude of sin, 520, it says, you save them from physical death and then it says, Love covers a multitude of sins. Proverbs 10:12 tells us the same thing, hatred, stirs up Strife, but love covers all offenses. Love is always the way to go divisions. 415 says rather speaking the truth. How in love we are to grow up in every way into him. Who is the head into Christ? So how do we restore people in love, we restore people in love. Now, love does not equal sweeping things under the rug. Love does not equal sweeping things under the rug. What does it say speaking? What you still speaking the truth? It's love and truth but it's how you communicate that truth. That doesn't mean that you Juris sweep things under the rug. You still need to bring up what the issue is. We still need to bring up what the problem is. It's not like, oh I'm just, I'm just, I'm just going to leave it, you know, let's just move on, you know, you can't move on until you address the issue. Until we address the issue, you know, we can really move on it. Still stored somewhere in the back of your mind and it will hand their trust in the future. Another, I'm going to have you struggle before giveness. Forgiving one another as Christ, forgave you. So do you want to be forgiven? So you need to resend the same. That's what it says in Matthew 7. It says, why should God forgive you? If you're not willing to forgive others,

the real, your forgiveness is something that all of us have to do. We cannot withhold forgiveness because of Christ withheld. Forgiveness, from us.

You know, how much with messed up? How would we?

But Christ did not withhold forgiveness from us. He still forgive us. Whatever. We've done. And James and Paul is telling us, we need to do the same thing. We need to extend forgiveness and extend love to others and the bottom line is choosing, the way of Love, is always best. Choosing the way of Love is always best. And lastly, when we're we helped to win the save and the less guess what? We becoming more like Christ. When we helped to win the saved and the less, we are becoming more like Christ. Not only would become more humble that only doing what Christ calls us to do, you know, to reach out to them. We're trying to save them but we also becoming more like Christ. What does it say? In Luke 19 verse 10. It says the son of man came to seek and save the lost. That's the story of the key is in Luke 19, verse 1, to 10. That's the story. When Zacchaeus Was a tax collector, he was taking advantage of using people as we heard the story earlier. But Jesus went in Sooke, seek out to restore the keys and the story ended with the son of man. Jesus, he came to seek and to save the Loess. So when we try to save, we try to rescue will try to win the safe and they tell us, we are becoming more like Christ. And as Believers that the goal for us, the goal for us is to be more like Christ. Likeness is our goal to look at 2nd Corinthians. 3:18, it says end, we all live on Vale face beholding. The glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image that mean the exact image from one degree of Glory to another for. This comes from the Lord. Is the spirit. See God wants us to conform to Cheese's likeness in Romans 8:29. It says, for Dylan's room, he foreknew. He also predestined to be conformed to what the image of his son in order that we might be the firstborn among many brothers. So, when we are helping to win the savings, save the lust. We are becoming more like Christ which is the goal of the Christian. You see in in Luke 15, we see the parable of the lost sheep. The parable of the lost queen and parable of the lost son, which we usually refer to as the prodigal son. And if you look at the story of the lost sheep and the lost winning in, Luke 15 verse 1 to 10. It says now, The tax collectors and sinners were all Drawing Near to hear him and the Pharisees, in the scribes Grumble, saying this man receives, Sinners and eat with them. So he told them this Parable, what man of you having a hundred sheep if he has lost one of them does not leave the 99. In the open country, and go after the one that is lost until he finds it. And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulder rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors saying to them with me. For I have found my sheep. That was so it is a matter of rejoicing. When people backsliders turn to God in those were last turns to God. Just so I tell you there will be more joy in heaven. Over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons. We need no repentance at the heart of God, the heart of God is for the low. The heart of God is for the backslider to bring them back home. And Jesus is saying Hey I want you to be more like me another story about The Lost Princess or what woman having ten silver coins if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it. Some of you don't do that anymore, just that Penny doesn't mean anything but that's a, that's a day's wage right there. Okay. So that's like a hundred bucks, 200-500 2000, whatever you making a day. Okay, stay Sandy. When she has found it, she calls together, her friends and neighbors saying, Rejoice with me. For I have found the plan that I have lost, just so I can tell you. There is before the angels of God over one sinner. Shoe repair. That's why we all need to reach one. That's why each one needs to reach one. The gospel message is to go, therefore and Make Disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that. I have commanded you and I will be with. You see, the heart of God is that people will be turning to him. That's why our church, our strategies PSI Plus. We need to be praying for them or somebody was backsliding praying for them. Then we need to move to with our prayers. If we're praying for somebody to be saved in the Bible says, how can they hear, if no one preach to them? Or can they be here if no one share the gospel with himself? If you're praying for a family member or friend, a classmate to be saved and we need to move toward our prayer, then now we need to share the gospel with them or we need to take the next step. Invite them to church and when they come to church, don't act weird, so welcome bands. Be nice to sit with them and I waved at you when you coming in this truck you can Tell me that never happens to you. When they come, you need to welcome them. And really just at the reason for rejoicing, if that's somebody, you've been trying to share the gospel, been trying to invite for you and then when they come like like there's no run. There's no fiber in your body that Just Smiles that. No excitement. Something is wrong with you. You know, how hard it is, to get people to come to church, or to, to, to open up to God, especially they have, like, a bad experience, or whatever it is, or whatever their dispositions is. So, when they come, it's like we're going to listen to church and you pay for them. Okay. You wouldn't believe her already fill do you pay for their love? You mean by men become then you take them out to lunch, you're welcome them and then you minister to them cuz all of us have problems. Okay? When they come you minister to Demi minutes to go to Denny's. Now they become ministers and they repeat the same process. They start praying for people. They start sharing the gospel. Inviting people, that welcoming people, and they come and the minister to them. And then it turned them into ministers and repeat the same process. Amen. The wizard because of you, not any guilt trip was here because of you this morning.

So if not, that's a prayer request, you need to pray. God help me to reach somebody because in Luke 14:23 to send the master said to the starving, go out to the highways and hedges and compel.

Give people a reason to come in that my house may be filled. You don't love God, love people.

So, if you don't love people, you got problems.

You got issues like my high school kids would say. So we all got to love people because God that got hearts and God wants us to be more like in christlikeness is each of our goal. See.

Just some life lessons, and it will end, God is in the business of restoration, not condemnation. So should we I think that was made, clear your Greek. God is in the business of restoration, not come the nation. And so should we next God is in the best. Build backsliding comes at a great cost. God calls you to obedient not Disobedience. Don't Stray away from the truth. Remember, for every action there is a reaction for every kick. There is a kickback, okay, whenever you give a kick there is also a kickback, still Strive not to backslide. The consequences are too great. We need to lovingly confront, those who have strayed away from truth and strive to restore them into Fellowship. We need to lovingly confront. I know we don't like to confront, but the Bible says that we need to. We need, not only to pray, but we also need to intervene we need to lovingly confront those who have strayed away from the truth and strive to restore them to Fellowship. Our job is to pray to plead and restore the backslider and save the less c h Heart and Hope to become like God, let God fight. Because God's heart is broken for the loss. And the backsliders, our prayer needs to be Lord. Please break my heart for what? Breaks yours. Needs to be our prayer so that when we see somebody who doesn't know Christ that we don't just look at her but we little can say. And now I'm praying, I pray that you belong to Christ and when we see somebody backsliding it needs to break our hearts that we want to help bring them back to the Lord. Be focused on love, regardless of people's reaction to this position. To would you the reaction or their disposition will not always be great.
