Our command is to go out into the world and to share the Good News

Church this morning I wanted to sort of pick up where we left off last week
This was brought on by a magazine I looked at that was in my office
As I looked through this magazine I saw the baptism report from NAMB
I found KNCSB and for 2021 we baptized 882
That is great for those 882 people who are baptized
Then I thought wow that doesn’t seem like a whole bunch of people
And church the more I thought of it the more it started to bother me
I asked our Mens Bible Study if it bothered them
I spoke with our DOM about if it bothered him or the state convention people
So church the question this morning to you is does it bother you
Does it bother you that in 2021 KNCSB only baptized 882
Let me put this in perspective
in the same yr 2021
Missouri Baptized 4,546
Oklahoma baptized 7904
Colorado Baptized 1,243
I understand we are not to compare and so even without knowing what other state conventions are doing
I wonder and I still ask does it bother you
Or do we not even care
I spoke with people and they explained that it was during covid
It was that people didn’t turn stuff it
The people that I spoke with assured me that it does bother them
Church it does bother people because we have been commanded to go out into a lost world and share the Gospel
To share the greatest news this world has ever heard
Matthew 28:19–20 NASB95
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We have heard this verse
We have preached on this verse
In fact we have taken this on as part of our purpose our mission statement here at Maranatha Baptist Fellowship
This is the great commission
This is what we have used as a command to us and church it is exactly that
It is what we are called to do
But it is not the only time Christ sent people out
See Jesus sent out the 70
Luke 10:1–3 NASB95
1 Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. 2 And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 “Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.
Jesus sends out pairs of people to go and prepare the way for His coming
These people went out and shared that Jesus would soon be coming and to get ready to meet Him
Church that is exactly what we are called to do today
Just like the 70 church we are also sent out to share the Good News of Jesus Christ
We are commanded and sent out to a lost world to share the News that changes peoples lives
Jesus also sent out the 12
Mark 6:7–11 NASB95
7 And He summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits; 8 and He instructed them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belt— 9 but to wear sandals; and He added, “Do not put on two tunics.” 10 And He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave town. 11 “Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them.”
Here Jesus sends out the 12 disciples to what, to share with a world about the coming Kingdom of God
About the salvation from God to a world that is only through Jesus
Church they went out and evangelized
THey were given instructions about going out to share
It was sort of a short term mission trip
They went for a purpose
They were sent out
Church just like the 12 and the 70 were sent out for a purpose of sharing the greatest news this world has ever heard
We are called and commanded to do the same
Jesus even gives us power
Acts 1:8 NASB95
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Church we are called to go out into the world and share the greatest news about the salvation
In a world that is changing so very very fast
This message has not changed ever
It has withstood so much
It is not a marketing process to change the message and people will come it
It is not about sugar coating the message so that you get people in the door
We understand that it is not us or the words we use that saves people but it is only the power of Jesus that saves
Our role in this is to simply present the information
To share with the lost world what Jesus did in our own lives
So then church what stops us
If we are called and commanded
If we are given the same power they had
Then church it should bother us that we aren’t
Lets be honest
We haven’t been sharing the Gospel
And church this morning I know where this lands
It lands right at my feet as the Pastor
So lets unpack a few excuses as to why we aren’t sharing the Gospel
Is it that we don’t know enough?
Do we not share the Gospel because we are afraid we don’t have all the answers?
If that is you
If you are nervous about going to share the Gospel or even starting the conversation at work or with your family
Then church you are in good company
Mark 3:16–19 NASB95
16 And He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter), 17 and James, the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, “Sons of Thunder”); 18 and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot; 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.
These are uneducated men
Scripture goes on to say that other people knew they were uneducated people
So if that is you, you are in good company
Jesus took 12 men and completely changed the world and they didn’t have a seminary degree
They weren’t educated men or good talkers
Church they spent time with Jesus
That is where they got their education
So it would make sense for us
If we want to be sharing the Gospel this it is a must that we be spending time with Jesus ourselves and growing in our own personal walks
The opposite is true as well
If we aren’t sharing the Gospel or desiring to evangelize
It would mean we haven’t been spending much time with Jesus
So church that is why it is important you be spending time with Jesus each and everyday!!!
So that you share what you have experienced
Mark 5:19 NASB95
19 And He did not let him, but He said to him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”
Or church maybe you just get super duper nervous or anxious to share the Gospel
You feel prepared to and called to and even have a desire to share the Gospel but
When you get to the door you just freeze
Or you just go blank when you start the conversation
Maybe you even start to over think starting the conversation because you are nervous or anxious
Acts 4:17–21 NASB95
17 “But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name.” 18 And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; 20 for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” 21 When they had threatened them further, they let them go (finding no basis on which to punish them) on account of the people, because they were all glorifying God for what had happened;
It is the power of the Holy Spirit that gives you courage and boldness
All it requires is that you be obedient and God will give the courage
So church it is as simple as being obedient and letting the Holy Spirit do the rest
Or maybe you spend time with Jesus
And you have courage
but
You get so wrapped up in the conversations online that are pointless
You get so wrapped up in the wrong thing
Church it is about keeping the main thing the main thing
2 Timothy 2:14–16 NASB95
14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,
These are Pauls charge to Timothy
To stay away from empty conversation
Don’t get wrapped up in the pointless conversations
Church we do such a good job of talking about the weather
What needs to happen and what will happen
We can even look at the clouds and get a pretty good prediction of what will happen
And then based on that we can talk about what the fish are doing
We can talk all day about the chiefs
Who they got rid of and who they got
And what they should have done
Or wether the Royals should move their stadium
and why they aren’t winning
Or at my house we talk a lot about soccer and who made the roster and who didn’t make the roster and who should have made it
And church these aren’t bad but when they become our focus
Stuff is out of wack
It is time church we keep the main thing the main thing
Our focus should be the Gospel
It is to be talked about at home, around the table, at work, with our family, friends, and co workers, our waiters and waitresses and even strangers we meet waiting in line
Church
When we spend time with Jesus regularly
We have courage and boldness
And then church we can’t help but talk about it because it is our focus
And church it is time we get back to that in our daily lives
So church this morning as we move to our time of invitation
The band will come up
Maybe you are here this morning and do not know Jesus personally
I would encourage you to come and speak with someone about beginning a personal relationship with Jesus this morning
Or maybe you are here this morning and you have a relationship with Jesus but
You are scared because you think you don’t know enough
You are nervous about starting the conversation
Or you get distract with all sorts of other conversations
If that is you I want to encourage to spend sometime in prayer with the Lord this morning
Maybe there are somethings you need to repent from and then ask God to give you a heart of the lost
Ask God to set your heart on fire for sharing the Gospel Message
Then church lets get to work
Is it that we don’t know enough
list of people who didn’t know
simple share what you have expeirenced
is that you are nervous or scared
Holy Spirit gives us courage
You simply have to be obedient
is that we miss the point
We talk a lot about Jesus and get wrapped up in stupid discussions
Keep the main thing the main thing
He did assure me that it did bother Our command is to go out into the world and to share the Good News
How Jesus sent out the 70, Luke 10:1-20
how he sent out the 12 - Matthew 10:5, Mark 6:7
Mark 6:7 NASB95
7 And He summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits;
Acts 1:8 NASB95
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
