Hi I am Liam

Hey guys my name is Liam Cowman and I am 23 years old from Vermilion.
What I do in vermilion is kinda what we are going to be doing at camp this week. I just do it for teen ages and help with kids at our church.
See I work at a Church and so I talk alot about who God is, Why it matters and who you are because you are made by God.
Now those are 3 really important things and we are going to talk a little bit about that during these chapel times. We are going to sing songs and play some fun games here that help us understand who God is.
See when I say God there is probably a lot of different ideas that come to mind.
If you think this is who God is I want you to put up your hand;
If you think God is a big guy in the clouds
If you think God is a mean guy
If you think God is a nice guy
If you think God is really far away
If you think God is really close by
If you are not sure who God is
Listen if you put up your hand for any of those it’s alright. We are going to learn together all about this stuff and it’s OK to ask questions. If you ask your cabin leaders they are super smart and they will be able to help, but if they can’t you can ask me at the end of chapel and I will help you out too.
Now lets talk about God. Who is he and who are you because of God?
This big book is called the Bible and is the story of God and his People. It’s like a history book but instead of wars and revolutions this is about the plan God has for his people.
Lets just to Genesis where God starts his story and is plan for the world.
Genesis 1:1–2 NIV
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
So there was nothing, A big pit of nothing. Nothing soup. A big plate of nothing.
Now imagine this nothing as this pot; it is very blank! There is no decorations, no design, no pictures. It is kinda boring.
So God was around in this boring plain and nothing time of all of the universe! When there was nothing there was still God.
So this tells us God is before the beginning, before anything happened, God was there.
So God decided to put things into that nothing, to make it look pretty.
Genesis 1:3 NIV
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
So God created this light and to show this I am going to paint a sun onto this pot, now I am not a artist but I will try my best!
See God made a light here so that it was not just a empty nothing soup.
Genesis 1:6 NIV
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.”
This was the skies! now to paint this I am just going to draw a little cloud in the sky to show it off.
See God was saying that the blue of the sky and the blue of the water was like two different waters.
And that might sound weird until you think about rain, how rain clouds hold water and drop it down on to the world.
Genesis 1:9 NIV
And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so.
So God went and created a land, but thats jumping ahead. We need to first make some water. So here is a ocean, does anyone have a name for this Ocean? Shout out a name for me!
Awesome lets call this ocean ___________
Then he created the Land however there was nothing on this land yet, it was a open field. No trees or flowers, there was not any plants!
Genesis 1:14 NIV
And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,
For this one we get the day and the night and so I am going to flip this to the other side and make a mood over here!
See the moon and the sun help us keep the days, months and year. God made a clock for everyone in the world to keep time.
If we didn’t have a way to keep time then how would we know our birthdays!
Shout out your birthday on the count of 3, 1! 2! 3!
Awesome!
Here is where it gets fun!
God makes little fish!
Genesis 1:20 NIV
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”
I cannot draw fish so I am going to just put dots here. and call it a day.
Genesis 1:24 NIV
And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.
GOD MADE ANIMALS.
PUPPIES!
KITTIES!
BIRDS!
OTTERS!
ok lets do this again shout out your favourite anaimal on 3, 1! 2! 3!
Nice. I am gonna draw a piggy
Now we are missing something right?
what are we missing?
OH RIGHT PEOPLE OF COURSE WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE!?!
Genesis 1:24 NIV
And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.
So here is a guy and here is a girl!
Does anyone know their names, show of hands who knows their name?
There names are Adam and Eve!
See Adam and Eve were the first mom and dad, they are your great x1000 grandpa and grandma.
