Intro: In 7 days from now we send off 11 students & 5 adults to Czech! It’s one of if not the most atheistic country in the world! We will do an english camp for the purpose of evangelism. that means we will lead games, lead small groups, teach english.
Need:
Danger - Missed opportunity; just bc you’re not going doesn’t mean you don’t have a unique opportunity in front of you. Not caring and checking out is a mistake - it is not just a bummer for those going but it affects you negatively. From freshmen to seniors - these next two weeks are vital to the remaining time you have in HS min - will you be ALL IN to serve the Lord and devote yourself to His purposes RIGHT NOW? or will you waste the time, use it on yourself, comfort, and ultimately open yourself up to drifting?
OPPURTUNITY - I believe you have an oppurtunity to be invlovled in something BIG, to make a real differnence in the world, to grow personally closer to the Lord! And to use the break our ministry has to grow MORE connected more involved and set yourself up for an effective time of serving the Lord from an early age!
Encourage
Heb 10:24-25 “and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
“One of the highest of human duties is the duty of encouragement… It is easy to laugh at men’s ideals; it is easy to pour cold water on their enthusiasm; it is easy to discourage others. The world is full of discouragers. We have a Christian duty to encourage one another. Many a time a word of praise or thanks or appreciation or cheer has kept a man on his feet. Blessed is the man who speaks such a word.”
it takes A LOT for young people to get over envy, jealousy, division in order to reach out and encourage.
BUT I think that if this group here was to truly grasp this and take up the biblical mandate we have to encourage one another it would HAVE A HUGE impact on the entire HS ministry - it would change the culture of this ministry for years to come & it would be so unheard of that any new vistor that came would know right away -this place is different.
But those going on this trip need encourageent - they may have fears, worries, distratction and they need encouragement, they need to be filled upas they are about to go pour out
IN GROUPS: Talk about what encouragment is and really practical ways you can encourage those going, over the next 7 days
Pray
Col 4:2-4 “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.”
if the apostle Paul asked chruches to pray for Him so that his evangelism would be succesful how much more does a group of HS need it?
I think that when we take a step back and realize that salvation is an act of God and he simply uses His people as tools in His hand to bring about His intended purpose - we will begin to see our need to pray
Does God need you in order to bring someone to salvation? No BUT He has chosen that the means by which he saves man is through the faithful evangelism of His people - so He doesn’t need you but He has chosen to use you
In the same way God doesn’t NEED you pray but He has chosen that the way in which He brings about His will is through having His people ask for it in prayer
So we need you topray and when you hear of fruit from the trip you can be equally as excited bc though you were at home you were equally as involved

Join
Col 4:5-6 “Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.”
its interesting that right after Paul says pray for me as I go out to the mission field - he says and don’t forget youre on mission too! I’m gonna do it somewhere else - youre gonna do it here
So act wisely, make the most of EVERY OPPURTUNITY!
I think as you encourage and as you pray - you will begin to remmeber that you don’t have to be overseas to be a part of God’s redemptive plan, you have unsaved friends, siblings, teamates and coworkers that likely won’t ever hear the gospel unless you tell them
IN GROUPS: Talk about what oppurtunities you might hae over the next 3 weeks to evangelize and what it looks like to ACT WISELY in those situations
