Double Honor 1 Timothy 5:17 The elders who lead the church well should receive double honor, especially those who work hard by speaking and teaching,

To begin with, brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers, and Saints of God It is a great and gracious honor to Honor the Man of God today. And my honor is based on the word of God from the bible. Is that alright? Just give me a moment to walk through a few scriptures and I’ll be out of your way.

1. The bible say to honor the man of God. Honor 3x Hon or in the Greek vernacular is the word TIME “Tear may” I looked it up and I found this Honor in this text means that the people have a concrete and collective value concerning the man of God. And then by analogy they esteem the man of God in the highest degree and lastly the people of God consider the man of God with dignity because he’s precious and priceless to them. Wow! Pastor I could close out this sermon right here and sit down right and you give the benediction right there. That definition alone is enough for the church to say Amen. Glory to God Hallelujah and Thank you Jesus.

2. In the book of Genesis Abraham gave tithes of all to the King of Salem Melchizedek. Abraham was winning all of his battles and God was with him and God gave Abraham favor and great fortune. And Abraham gave a tenth of all the spoils of war to Pastor Melchizedek. And here’s the symbolism of that antiquity to modern day 2023.Abraham in essence was paying tithes to Jesus incarnate, meaning that Jesus was there even in the beginning before the beginning ever began. And the bible says that Abraham knew to give Reverence toward the Priesthood. And in the NT the Christians knew to give Reverence to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. Because we know Jesus t be Prophet Priest and King. And then in 2023 Pastor Washington is the Under shepherd of the Great Shepherd of the Sheep Jesus, and Pastor Washington represents the Highest Order of the deity of Jesus Christ. And Jesus said those who honor a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward.

3.And the bible says that the pastor ought to be able to serve the church with a glad heart, a willing heart with a compassionate heart and with a kind heart or it’s no profit to you. If you make his life miserable here while he pastor you it is absolutely of no benefit to you. God isn’t going to honor you if you dishonor the man of God.

Can you back that up with scripture? Yeah ya’ll remember when David was keeping Nabal’s flocks and herds from Marauding bandits and thieves. David and his mighty men protected Nabal’s interest. Nabal was rich well off and considered to be wealthy. And so David sent word to Nabal while they were feasting from his success. David said please send some food for my hungry men. Nabal said what! who is any David to me, Don’t send him nothing. When David heard that David the warrior wanted to go up and kill him. Nabal’s wife Abigail heard about the situation and saddled up a donkey with food glamour and went to David. She said my lord David my husband is a churlish man, he’s mean, he’s dirty and he’s rotten to the core. Abigail said please accept my gifts for your men and don’t go up and kill him. David said she’s kind, and because she’s kind I’m not going to go and kill him. Brothers and sisters Abigail was kind. And the first sermon I ever heard Pastor Washington preach at Pilgrim was please be kind to this man of God. And that hit home for me. Long story short. Nabal was full of that wine so Abigail waited until the next day. When Abigail told Nabal that she had gone behind his back and fed all of David’s men with the a great feast like he was having, Nabal got so mad until the bible says he caught a stroke and died ten days later.

In 2023 it’s better for you to want to honor this man of God with double honor because it will be profitable to you. The next thing the theme text say is that the man of God is required to give good teaching and sacred solid sound doctrine.

That’s why the word of God says to study to show thy approved a workman who needed not be ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth. If you’ve got a pastor that teach and preach and reach you with the truth of the word of God then the bible says muzzle not the ox that treathed out the corn. If Pastor Washington is producing here, then his greatest blessings ought to come from this house. Double Honor. 3x

Listen to me I know that I’m giving you a Topical textual sermon on Double Honor and that the word Honor is the Greek word “Tear may” and Tear may means that the people have a concrete and collective value concerning the man of God. And then by analogy they esteem the man of God in the highest degree and lastly the people of God consider the man of God with dignity because he’s precious and priceless to them. Honor 3x But what if you don’t know how to honor with dignity that the man of God is precious and priceless? What if you don’t know? Then I would suggest that even if you don’t know 2x Be obedient to God’s word concerning the Preacher Prophet Priest Poiman Minister Bishop and Pastor. Can I back it up with scripture? Turn to 1 Kings 17:7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 9 Arise, get thee to ||Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. Brothers and sisters this is a classic example of how to respond in the right way even when seems to be no way out. it’s after 3 pm and you’ve been in church a while and there are many more illustrations that we could use to prove that the church ought to honor the man of God with double honor.

But tah the bible says that that there was a widow who was in dire straights. She was gathering sticks to build a fire to get ready to eat her last meal with her and her young son. um um um

And the Lord had commanded Elijah to seek out the widow from Zarephath and that she would sustain you. And There she was at the gates of the city gathering sticks. And Elijah said may i have a cool drink of water She said sure man of God. Um Um Um and Elijah said and while you’re at it give me a morsel of food, The I heard her saying now man of God that’s where the problem is. She said I only have a handful of mill and a thimble of oil. She said I’m gathering sticks to go and build a fire. Yes And I’m going to make one last meal for me and my boy. and then we’ll die from this famine. Oh Lordy than Elijah said Sister go do just what you said um um But feed me first Oh Lordy.

Elijah instituted a Godly principle He said when you feed the Pastor First , Great God the handful of mill will never run out and the thimble of oil will never run out. The widow didn’t know the orthodoxy of honoring the man of God but she knew that obedience is better than sacrifice. She knew she didn’t have any thing left. She knew that she needed a life line and maybe this preacher is the answer I’ve been needing. Yes Because as she listened the bible says that The Mill never ran out and the thimble of oil never ran out and that they did eat for many days. Oh Lordy! I’ve got to close here but tah the Man of God deserves double honor. Double Honor because he’s a extension of the deity of Jesus Christ here on the earth. And because we honor Jesus Great God then we ought to honor Jesus’ preacher.

Because One Friday they dishonored my Jesus. They led Him on up Calvary’s hill and put Him on a cross, They put a crown of thorns on His head and the blood came streaming down Please sir to have mercy Oh Lord OH LORDY.

And the crucified my Lord and your God and Jesus died on the cross. Yes He did. Then they put Him down in Joseph’s new tomb. And He stayed in the grave all night Friday night stayed in the grave All day Saturday. Stayed in the grave all night Saturday night But Early 3x Sunday Morning He got up!! yeah With All Power in His hand. He’s got Power 3x. Is there anybody in here that Love my Jesus. Because I love the Lord He heard my cry and pitied my every grown and Long as I live I’m going to hasten to my God’s Throne. Ain’t He Alright!
