Living Free and Staying Free.

Galatians 5:1 NASB95
1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

I. The way you were freed is how you stay free.- (engagement)

Ephesians 1:13 NASB95
13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

a. The truth will set you free. John 8:32

the word of truth
telling the truth (chapstick)

b. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. John 14:6

follow after Jesus. Let him guide, we learn this by his life

c. If Christ has set you free you are free indeed. John 8:36

trust in this
Practical ways to stay free:
If you’re not repenting of sin- then your relaxing in sin.
Romans 7:21 NIV
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
If you’re not resisting the devil- then you’re inviting the devil.
Ephesians 4:27 NASB95
27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.
If you’re not living into your freedom then you will living out of freedom.
If you’re not walking in light then you are walking in the dark.
Ephesians 5:8–11 NIV
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
If you’re not banding with others- then you’re binding by others.
Galatians 6:2 NASB95
2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.
Notice: There is no neutral ground. Freedom is not a game you can play when you want. It doesn’t have a controller that you can put down and pick up. You are either living in freedom or living without freedom

d. Therefore you are no longer slaves but sons.- Gal. 4:7

Empowered your life for right living. (Gospel of Luke “Spirit”)
Equip you with gifts for serving.
You were set free by Christ from sin and satan;
free to live life in a family and serve in the family business.

II. How you live free is by serving others.

13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

A. 1500 year old practice of understanding the Bible.

Four-Fold Sense of Scripture: Literal, Spiritual-Faith(Jesus), Love(Moral), & Hope(Future).
Rule of Faith: Scripture and Doctrine.
Rule of Love: To Love God more and to love others better.

B. Free to serve our “Lord”.

Jesus would be the greatest example of a life that is lived in total freedom.

Equipped to Serve

10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
Live to Serve in the Church and for the Church.
