Some years ago there were ministers that held a type of name they were called “Hellfire and Brimstone” preachers and there were plenty of them warning against eternal punishment in a Hell that burns with fire and brimstone, where the “worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched”

People came to the altars shaking as did I to the song “Lost Forever”

Matthew 25:41-46 (KJV)

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

How many of us are ready for judgment? If you raised your hand, that’s nice, but what about the things you are sure nobody knows about? If you didn’t raise your hand you need to be ready.

1.  T.V. doesn’t know what is coming.

a.       Television has tried many things including explaining what Hell is. One show actually depicted it as spending eternity floating on an inner tube on the water.

b.      A lot of TV writers want to take out any idea that there is punishment because a lot of writers are going there!

2.   Lately in today’s time we seem to have a feeling that we know better than we used to. That God has too much love to put anyone in hell!

a.       God is love, but God doesn’t put you there you do!

b.      Some want to joke about it!

If you’ve done any witnessing, you’ve probably met people who seem to have no concept of the tragedy of sin and the awfulness of hell. “I don’t mind going to hell,” they say rather flippantly. “I’ll have lots of company.” But there is no company in hell, because hell is a place of eternal isolation and loneliness. Like the lepers outside the camp, lost sinners will dwell alone; they will be alone forever.

c.       Many just want to close their eyes to it and forget it thinking nobody knows I sinned I’ll “slip through the cracks”

Luke 12:2–5 (KJV)

2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. 3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. 4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

3.   Judgment is coming are you ready?

Revelation 20:11–15 (KJV)

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Are you really ready for that? Are your family members? Is this town?

If you saw someone who was headed for pain suffering and destruction would you warn them or let them just go to suffer? If their house were on fire would you warn them, or watch the fire

For the rest of eternity there will be those who warned others and saw them saved and there will be others screaming in torment watching the fire.

Matthew 24:36 (KJV)

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
