POWER OF PRAYER- WHO AM I TO PRAY?

Introduction.

We are in a series called the power of prayer,and I sensed the Lord saying He wants to settle our identity on who we ARE  in order to pray effectively.

If we are thoroughly convinced in who Jesus says we are , if our identity as children of God is settled, We can start to walk with God and see indribel things take place in and through our life .

One with God is a majority., we can only gain in life if we will imitate Christ example as he prayed.

Luke 5:15–16 (NLT)

15But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases.

16But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

Luke 6:12 (NLT)

12 One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.

Luke 6:13 (NLT)

13At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles.

Family, i am convinced we need to have a..

Powerful-Backed led by the Holy Spirit .

Passionate

Persistent prayer life,

And then we will end up being like Him Jesus . we will never be HM BUT WE TO BE LIKE HIM.

Family i am convinced christian need to pray over everything, prayer before function…

I pray over the leaders, the leaders pray over the sheep, the sheep pray over the Lost.. We cover everyone in prayer..

1 WHO AM I TO PRAY:

John 1:12–13 (NIV)

12Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

If we have received Christ in our life, we have come to believe that He died on the cross, buried and rose up on the 3rd day, repented and turned and believed the God news then we are a child of GOd.

We are what the bible says we are born again.

John 3:7 (NIV)

7You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’

2 Corinthians 5:17–21 (NLT)

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.

19For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

20So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

When we receive Christ into our life, we are born again into  THE FAMILY OF GOD

God is our Father.

We are a child of God

We are a new creation.

And the bible makes  a truthful claim over our life that we are righteous.

SO TO SETTLE THE QUESTION WHO ARE WE  TO PRAY?

WE A NEW CREATION, GOD IS OUR FATHER, AND THE BIBLE SAYS WE ARE RIGHTEOUS AMBASSADOR FOR GOD.

POINT 2 I DON'T FEEL RIGHTEONES.

Romans 5:17 (NIV)

17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

The word Reign means:

To reign, to be king, to rule. Refers to the activity of one exercising dominion over an individual or a people.

We to reign in our sphere of influence, you have authority given to you, the enemy does not want you to know you have authority he wants you to feel defeated, helpless.

When we receive Christ , we also receive the gift of righteousness , we slowly start to regain order, government and some kingdom principles in our life.

One of the major roles The Holy Spirit fulfills   in our life  is to convict us and persuade  us that we are a righteous child of God.

We not in the gospel of condemnation but we in the gospel of liberation and freedom

from sin, shame and guilt.

I used to think  the Holy Spirit's job is to make me feel bad.

It's not listen to this verse.

John 16:7–10 (NIV)

7But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:

9about sin, because people do not believe in me;

10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;

A  good prayer point is to pray and ask the Lord to help   YOU SEE YOURSELF AS A RIGHTEOUS CHILD OF GOD WHO IS CALLED TO REIGN.

3. Which leads me to my next POINT WHAT CAN THIS GIFT OF RIGHTEOUS DO.

James 5:16–18 (NIV)

16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

17Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.

18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

This man Elijah was not perfect at all, these are some of his weakness

Fear (1 Kings 19)- Right after God brought about a great miracle and answered Elijah’s prayer on Mt. Carmel, Elijah grew afraid of Jezebel and ran away. This demonstrated a lack of faith in God and His protection.

Inconsistent/prone to ups and downs- Elijah was a human. He experienced highs and lows in his walk with God. Sometimes he had an emotional high and then depression would follow.

However , he still accomplished great things for God. The bible says we should basically draw strength from His life and start to pray in faith , believing our  prayers are powerful and effective.

James 5:16 (AMP)

The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

There is a story of a women of God, she would pray earnestly and while she would pray people would get saved, as the power of God would travel from her while she is praying and get people saved, the bibles language is this, when you pray in faith to Jesus we release the Holy Spirit presence and power to do its work.

WHEN WE SEE OURSELVES AS RIGHTENONES CHILD OF GOD, WE START TO REIGN ON EARTH WITH OUR PRAYER LIFE.

QUESTION ARE WE PRAYING IN FAITH , BELIEVING  AND EXPECTING THAT THE LORD IS WORKING IN THE HIDDEN WITH US.

Sometimes we get the answer quickly, other times it takes a while.
