1 Cor 15:14-20
Vain means empty.
There are three PLACES that need to be empty for you to go to Heaven.

I. There is an Empty Cross.

Jesus Christ suffered on the cross.(SEVEN SAYINGS FROM THE CROSS)
Father forgive them for they know not what they do
Today thou shalt be with me in paradise
Woman behold thy son, son behold thy mother
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me
I thirst
It is finished
Father into thy hands I commit my spirit
Jesus Christ bled on the cross.
Heb 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
Jesus Christ died on the cross.
Matt 27:50 “Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.”

II. There is an Empty Cave.

The Lord was buried there.
John 19:38–42 (KJV)
38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. 42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
The Lord was left there.
John 19:42 “There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.”
The Lord was not there.
Matt 28:6 “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

III. There is an Empty Case.

Our enemy is the devil.
Matt 13:39 “The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.”
Our enemy is the prosecution.
Rev 12:10 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”
Our enemy has no evidence.
Psa 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

Conclusion:

There are Empty people.
Their sins have never been paid for.
They have never believed on Christ.
Their case is packed with evidence that will condemn them to eternity in Hell (James 2:10) Preached at VBC 3/27/2016
