We are not our own!

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV 1900)
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Peculiar (def)
A preserving of a possession
One’s own property; possession
An obtaining
His own special people
Listen to what the Lord has done to obtain us ---- as His possession!
Titus 2:11–14 (KJV 1900)
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Knowledge begins with the Lord

Proverbs 1:2–7 (KJV 1900)
To know wisdom and instruction; To perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; And a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; The words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The Wise

What would we desire more than anything, if God was standing right before us?
Satisfaction from hunger
Relief from sickness
Wealth and power
2 Chronicles 1:7 KJV 1900
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
2 Chronicles 1:10 KJV 1900
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
As husband, father, church member (or leader) we should all desire wisdom!
Proverbs 8:11 KJV 1900
For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
There are so many more qualities derived from wisdom - we should do all we can to gain wisdom!
Wisdom has its worth because it is derived by the Father (look at how Solomon pleads with his son to embrace his desire in possessing wisdom)
King’s Kids - a program we have on Wednesday nights, we see King David who learned wisdom and understanding from his life experiences, fostered in Solomon his son, a desire for wisdom directly from God, has an immense desire to pass this wisdom on to his son Rehoboam…maybe as a result of what he experienced in observing his own father grieving from that results of sin, and all the rewards he would miss out on as a consequence. Our church has a King’s Kids program for the youth to recognize their need for salvation, and to grow with Christ in wisdom and understanding. Just like our church has an King’s Adults program where they are challenged to continue in the faith - but in both instances - there must be participation.
James 1:5 (KJV 1900)
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Psalm 119:11 KJV 1900
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
James 1:22–24 KJV 1900
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
James 5:16 KJV 1900
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
