Pharisees Commit the Unpardonable Sin

Mark 3:28, 29

[31 “Therefore] I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

From Last Week:

Matthew 12:31–32 NKJV
31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
it is of the utmost importance to note how this passage begins. it starts with the Pharisees. you see the knew that Jesus was doing the work of God and for many reasons chose not to recognize what God was doing.
Isaiah 5:20 NKJV
20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
we showed how peter was restored by the risen Lord.
not to mention the apostle Paul who held the costs of the men who stoned Stephen the evangelist.
Acts 7:58 NKJV
58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
The Apostle Paul Ministered Christ right after conversion
Acts 9:20–22 NKJV
20 Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. 21 Then all who heard were amazed, and said, “Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?” 22 But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.
The only people capable of committing the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit where the scribes and Pharisees. they knew the word of God well enough to know that the things they where saying where untrue. there desire was to keep their status over there spiritual lives. God help us if we ever get there!

1. What kind of tree are you? What kind of fruit is being produced by your life?

Matthew 12:33 NKJV
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.
2 Corinthians 13:5–6 NKJV
5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. 6 But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.
1 Timothy 4:7 NKJV
7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.
2 Peter 3:11 NKJV
11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

2. Keep an eye on what is in your heart because it will come out your mouth!

Matthew 12:34 NKJV
34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
now we all have believed things that where at veering levels of truth.
about ourselves and about others.
we need to be careful about what we harbor in our heats.
we need to understand that our hearts are flesh, and they can deceive us!
Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV
9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
God knows our hearts.
Acts 15:8–9 NKJV
8 So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, 9 and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
We need to train ourselves in the things of God so that we can shine a light in the world and Matthew 12:35 can be spoken of us.
Matthew 12:35 NKJV
35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

3. What we speak is where we are living in the heart.

Matthew 12:36–37 NKJV
36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
This may be one of those things that are different for men and women. then again it may not be.
to be certain many men have potty mouths out work (many women too). its not that we want to be profane or crude. Most of the time we are trying to be funny or loose. (relaxed)
sometimes women (but men too) say to much about a persons business. they are not a confidant at all.
