v.8-10

A Desire to Hide

Our sin causes in us a reaction to hide from God.
We don’t want to be seen by God.
v.11-13

Blame shifting

The woman you gave me.
The devil made me do it.
Adam was saying, “God, this is all your fault.”
If it wasn’t for this woman you gave me, I wouldn’t have sinned.
The sin nature in us, wants to blame the other party for our shortcomings.
Exodus 32:21-24
Aaron gives into his sin, to please the people. Then he blames the people for making him do it.
Our own sinful tendencies are at work, then when we don’t get what we want, we blame whoever we can.
We see this in counseling,
“I did _______ becasue of _______!”
I wouldn’t have sinned, if they didn’t make me.
James 1:13-15
James 1:13–15 ESV
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
We might say, I’m not blaming God, I’m blaming the other person.
Have you stopped to consider that the other person is brought by God into your life to help you grow?
So when you complain against them, you are complaining about God.
No, you cannot blame anyone else for your sin.
You yelled at the child, becasue you are an angry person who needs to repent of your sins.
Your child may have thrown a glass in anger, but that doesn’t excuse your actions.
v.13

What have you done?

God placing blame, on them. Not allowing the shifting of blame.
We must learn to confess our own sins, not blame shift and blame others for our folly.
If you sin, you will be punished for that sin.
Galatians 6:7
Galatians 6:7 ESV
7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
I know what some of you are thinking. I’m saved, I don’t have to worry about punishment.
2 points
Who says I’m speaking about the after life.
In this world, when we harbor sin in our lives. It leads to physiological issues.
Depression, guilt, despair, hopelessness, meaningless of life.
It can also lead to physical problems
Weight gain, heart attacks, insomnia
The seeds of sin that you plant in this life, will destroy your life.
Take care of it now.
All sin is ultimately against God, He is the one we must be reconciled to first.
If you don’t care if you are reconciled to God, what makes you think your saved?
If your okay with the distance that exists between you and Him. Where does that leave your relationship?
The bible says that you can’t hate your brother, and love God at the same time.
Proverbs 28:13
Proverbs 28:13 ESV
13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
If you try to conceal your sin, you will not prosper; in fact, you will fail as a human being.
For the weight of your sin, the weight of your guilt will pile up against you, and it will destroy you.
You must bring your transgression before God, and be reconciled to God, and your brother or sister.
v.16

The Woman

Pain With Blessing

Genesis 1:28 they were given the blessing of being fruitful and multiplying!
Now the blessing that God has given them, it now comes with a curse. You will have pain.

The Woman Will Desire to Lead

Her desire shall be to rule her husband.
She will desire to lead the family.
She will desire to be the main bread winner.
She will desire to be the boss.
1 Timothy 2:12
1 Timothy 2:12 ESV
12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
Reiterated in the New Testament.
Part of this curse we still see continuing today.
Female pastors like Joyce Meyer, Beth Moor.
They are living in direct rebellion to the created order. They are not working against the curse, but are embracing open rebellion to God.
A wife, is called to submit to her husband, and to come under His authority.
I’m not going to go over this at this point, I have other sermons you can review full teachings on.
This does not mean that husbands are supposed to be authoritarian.
Husbands are to sacrificially give all of themselves for the benefit of their wives daily.
When marriages operate this way, they work.
Wives that fight the curse and submit to their husbands, are happier.

The Man

In Genesis 1:26, God had said that man was to have dominion over creation.
Now, we will find this difficult. Nothing we are called to rule wants to listen to us.
When before taking dominion of a garden would be easy.
Remember, work was given before the fall. It was tending the garden, but the work was to be an easy one.
Now it bring forth thorns and disease!
Romans 8:20-21
While taking dominion of our own bodies, taking care of them, may have been easier.
Now we have sicknesses, ailments, cancer. These things were not present before.
Part of the dominion mandate would be for Adam to lead his family.
Now there is conflict in the marriage because the wife now desire to be in charge.
The children have now will be unruly and disobedient to parents becasue of sin.
Adam himself may have grown lazy in teaching and leading.
v.19

You Will Die

From dust you were taken, to dust you shall return.
Do you realize that when God created man, we weren’t supposed to die.
Romans 5:12
Death entered from sin.
We must understand this to understand the suffering we go through.
It wasn’t God’s plan!
1 Corinthians 15:26
1 Corinthians 15:26 ESV
26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
Death is an enemy.
As natural as we make death out to be, it’s un-natural.
v.14-15

Victory

Though death is in this world. We have the first glimpse of the good news.
Through the offspring of Eve, would come one who would crush death underfoot.
We see this in Jesus, when He came, living a perfect righteous life, then dying on the cross, He crushed the power of Satan.
When Jesus breathed His last He stated, “It Is Finished!”
It is done! Death was defeated!
Romans 8:1 “1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
We will still struggle with sin, but we no longer have condemnation for that sin.
God is working through us to continue to defeat the powers of darkness.
Romans 16:20
God is using you, to defeat the powers of darkness in this world!
This means, get active in the world!
Luke 10:19
Luke 10:19 ESV
19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.
Not that we handle snakes now as part of worship.
Jesus is referencing the fall and satan.
The demonic powers in this age have no power over you. You belong to Jesus, and in His name we tread on the demonic powers.
Praise be to God!
Even though we are subject to the curse.
Through Jesus the curse has been reversed to those who know Him as their Lord and Savior, and we are freed from it when we know and follow Jesus.

Benediction

To our Lord Jesus Christ! Who has already broke the power of the enemy. May He give you strength and courage to wage war against the forces of darkness this week. Go with the Lord this week!
