Mark 5:21

Intro:
This world and all creation were not created to just to endure.....
disease
disasters
suffer death
and then go to the grave!!!
He create us to rule his creation with his son JEsus leading us.
- to enjoy one another
- to share intimate joy with Him....for eternity
But the world fell victim to Satan in the garden
Genesis 3 and Romans 5:12
Romans 5:12 KJV 1900
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
In Mark 4 we see Jesus the servant king demonstrating his his power and letting the world know the “true king had come” by deostating Jesus power over the elements.
Now in Chapter 5:1-20 MArk demonstrates Gods power over demons.
Now Mark reveals the power of Jesus over disease and death.
Quest? Why the demonstration of his power?
To send a clear message to Satan and those under Satans authority the King had come!

vs21-24 the public request

Nothing drives a parent to their knees like a sick child!
Especially when the condition continue’s to grow more severe!
Emotions of helplessness
and desperation drive us to find whatever remedy we can!
We seek advice from strangers
and we are willing to give and do anything to bring relief!!
Jesus has left decapolius region and now lands somewhere around capernaum…contiuing his ministry to the large crowds!
Jairus - an official in the synagogue in Capernaum
This JEwsih leader now reveals his desperation as He tosses away theology, religious opinion as his daughter lay dying!
Now Jairus bows at the kings feet, in a show of faith and pleads for his daughter.

vs25-27 - the private desire

the scene changes
On his way to Jairus’s home another diseased woman approach Him in the crowd.
Her condition ....” an issue of blood for 12 years”
a hemorrhage of blood - possibly a continual menstruation....which meant continual seclusion according to LEviticus 15:19-27
She was as good as a leper in the eyes of the Jewish culture!!!
Two situations - the young girl at the top of the elite ladder enjoying all the beneifits of the home of a respected Rabbi and a social outcast!!
JAirus came publically and openly
The unnamed, outcast woman came secretly and privately
BUt they both had one thing in common .....
vs 28-29 - “if I may touch ....I shall be made whole”
She came in the crowd secretly...
she reached forth...
she touched and immediately she experienced physical healing!!!!!

vs30-34 -the servant’s response

Jesus knew power had left him ....
Quest? so why call her out???
Why put her in the public's eye!!!
Because Jesus wanted to establish relationship with this woman!!
vs 34- woman verse daughter
Woman is the equvilent of our modern day ma’am but MArk is emphasiszing the spiritual healing as well as the physical!!!
She was healed physical....and she was healed spiritually!! “made whole” broad meaning of = to save .......“go in peace”
no more bondage and no more slavery to sin!!!
vs 35-36 - while jairus was looking on and possibly agitated or unconcerned with the woman JEsus healed....
meanwhile someone approaches Jairus with the dreadful news “Your daughter is dead”
Their misunderstanding - “Why troublest the Master”
Jesus can’t help now!!!!
Jesus missed the timeline!!!!
NOTE: God’s timeline is not ours
vs 36 - Jesus responds to Jairus
Be not afraid “only believe”
Keep believing....

vs 37-40 - the arrival of hope

Jesus takes three of his disciples
vs39 gets to the home and dismisses the mourners!!!
He tells them the girl is only sleeping = The time after death before the resurrection and judgement but those at the home were only thinking physical sleep!!
vs 40 - Then he personalized his ministry by removing the guests and focusing on the family!!!
vs41-43 - JEsus spoke
Talitha = young girl kumi = rise up or arise
APP: Some individuals will never receive Christ because they have never become desperate enough!!
The trials of life are meant to bring us to Eternal Hope!!!!
We must learn God’s delay is given for us to grow in our Trust!!!
We must learn for faith to flourish we must be careful who we surround ourselves with and who we listen to!
If you surround yourself with faithless people you will never see beyond your circumstances!
Get some new friends full of faith!!!!
