Introduction

Many people want to confuse these characteristics of the Fruit of the Spirit, but we would be remiss if we did.
It is God’s intention that you understand not only what has been given to you, but how to properly utilize it.
Some others have never made a study of the fruit of the Spirit at all, thinking that they will just pop out automatically without their consent or assistance.
Galatians 5:22–23 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
LET US TRY TO DEFINE MEEKNESS:
--great power and strength under control
--enduring injury with patience and without resentment --mild
--submissive --not violent --humility
--not haughty not arrogant
--not inclined to put one’s self forward or in front
--not assertive
--just common --modest --unpretentious
TEXT:
Romans 12:16 NKJV
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Matthew 11:28–30 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
1 Peter 3:4 NKJV
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
2 Timothy 2:24–25 NKJV
And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
Galatians 6:1 NKJV
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
TWO LADIES IN A LAUNDRY MAT.
Two wives were doing their washing in a laundry mat.
They were both sitting mend their husband’s pants.
As they were sowing, the one lady said, "My husband
is so discouraged, he is so cold. We can’t find
anything good on TV. Nothing seems to go right for
him. Every one at work picks on him and we are not
appreciated by anyone. We cry a lot. Our home is so
sad and we live in despair. Our kids are brats. When
we go to church the song leader is dead. The pastor
is an idiot"
The other lady said, "My husband is so excited. He
can’t wait to go to church. He loves the sermons. We
go visit people all the time. He is so enthused. We
laugh all the time. We can’t wait to see what God is
going to do for us"
It got very quiet in the laundry mat as the two
women continued sewing on their husbands pants.
Seems one was patching the seat of the pants, the
other was mending the knees.
What do you think of my story?
DON’T PRAY FOR A HELPING HAND, IF YOU ARE NOT USING THE ONE AT THE END OF YOUR ARM!
Seems God has two dwellings --one in heaven and one in the hearts of the meek and the thankful.
The freest man in the world is the meek man that loves being a servant of Christ Jesus,
for he realizes he is not his own master, thus he yields his passions as a bond servant to the Most High.
Are you walking perpendicular to the ways of the Lord?
MAN LOVES TO BE A SHOW OFF, GOD SEES DIFFERENTLY.
1 Peter 3:4 NKJV
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Many desire the applause and trophies of man,
the mystery of God is revealed to the meek.
Meek people grow in the church, in Sunday School, in
Bible study and in prayer.
TO TEACH IS A GREAT DUTY. BUT THE MARK OF A GOOD TEACHER IS THE STUDENT -- NOT THE TEACHER!
2 Timothy 2:24–25 NKJV
And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
TO BELITTLE ANOTHER IS TO BE LITTLE.
There are several sins involved when a man elevates himself.
1. He lifts himself up.
2. He puts others down.
3. He is taking the place of God.
Galatians 6:1 NKJV
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
MOSES IS A TYPE OF THE MEEK THAT PLEASES GOD.
Numbers 12:3 NKJV
(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)
When the people bad mouthed Moses and his leadership
abilities, Moses stood in the gap for the very ones that had been against him.
That is not weakness, that is MEEKNESS.
When Aaron and Miriam spoke ill of Moses wife and family. God was going to bring judgment upon them.
Miriam was sick and would die outside the camp.
Miriam’s mouth got her in trouble. She was going to die a leper, and what a terrible DEATH she faced.
Moses prayer, (Numbers 12:13 Lord, HEAL HER NOW ...
God heard Moses’ MEEKNESS and honored him. But God allowed Miriam to suffer for 7 days as a lesson not to touch the MEEK.
DO YOU WANT TO BE WISE IN GOD’S EYES?
James 3:13–18 NKJV
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Who is a wise man and endued with
knowledge among you?
Let him show out of a good conversation his works
with MEEKNESS OF WISDOM.
1 Peter 3:15 NKJV
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
THE BIBLE CONTAINS MANY PROMISES TO THE MEEK!

1. AN INHERITANCE

Matthew 5:5 NKJV
Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

2. GREAT JOY

Isaiah 29:19 NKJV
The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.

3. CONTENTMENT

Psalm 22:26 NKJV
The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the Lord. Let your heart live forever!

4. LIFE OF PEACE and DELIGHT

Psalm 37:11 NKJV
But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

5. A SPECIAL PLACE WITH GOD

Psalm 147:6 NKJV
The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.

6. MEEK PEOPLE PLEASE GOD and are beautiful to Him.

Psalm 149:4 NKJV
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.
MEEKNESS IS NEVER EASY.
Often times it is easier to stand and fight than it is to walk away.
When I was a school teacher, the boy kept calling another boy a SISSY because he would not fight him. The BULLY was bigger and much more street wise.
The smart boy walked away and let him call him names.
I told him how proud I was and that Jesus was proud and I had him turn to
Luke 6:29 NKJV
To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.
It takes a man with a backbone to say in a SPIRIT of MEEKNESS, I don’t have to fight and fuss, God has a better plan. It is the SISSY that raises his voice and swings his fist.
HOW DID STEPHEN DO IT?
Acts 7:60 NKJV
Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
To be this MEEK Stephen had to TRUST the PLAN that God had for him.
Sometimes we have to come down from our high and lofty places to be used by God.
Romans 12:16 NKJV
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
It is not how high you can reach, but rather the ability to reach down to rescue others that pleases God.
Are we going the fruit of the spirit of MEEKNESS on our fruit trees?
