Intro
Name a religion:
All of these religions and more, there are many little g gods. The Bible simply states the one True God. Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
King David says in the old testament states an amazing verse declaring who God is: 1 Chronicles 29:11
1 Chronicles 29:11 ESV
11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
There are so many verses but you can tell from just this one verse that the God of the Bible claims to be the greatest. All of the heavens and earth is our God’s. He is the head above all.
He Is the I Am
Moses is called by God to go to Pharoah to let the Israelites free. God appears to Moses through a bush.
Exodus 3:13–14 ESV
13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”
This I am statement says so much. He is everything. He is the beginning and the end.
Revelation 1:8 ESV
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Elohim - strong One, divine (Genesis)
Adonai - Lord, indicating a Master-to-servant relationship (Exodus 4:10, 13)
El Elyon - Most High, the strongest One (Genesis 14:20)
El Roi - the strong One who sees (Genesis 16:13)
El Shaddai - Almighty God (Genesis 17:1)
El Olam - Everlasting God (Isaiah 40:28)
Yahweh - LORD “I AM,” meaning the eternal, self-existent God (Exodus 3:13, 14).
God’s Attributes

An attribute is a quality or characteristic that is true about someone. Studying God’s attributes allows us to have a limited understanding of His Person. Even though some concepts exceed the limits of our comprehension, our ideas concerning God need to be as true as possible.

Holiness

God’s attribute of holiness means that He is untouched and unstained by the evil in the world. He is absolutely pure and perfect.

Psalm 99:9 ESV
9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy!
Because God is Holy, we are also called to be Holy. We are called to be like Jesus, like God.
Righteousness and Justice
Fundamentals of the Faith Teacher’s Guide: 13 Lessons to Grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus Christ (Section IV: God’s Attributes)
Righteousness and justice are derived from the same root word in the original language of the New Testament. The meaning is being right or just.Righteousness designates the perfect agreement between God’s nature and His acts. Justice is the way God legislates His righteousness. There is no action that God takes in relation to man that violates any code of morality or justice.
Psalm 89:14 ESV
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
Sovereignty
Sovereignty means that God is the highest, supreme in power, and superior in position to all others. He is in control.
Isaiah 46:9–10 ESV
9 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
Eternal

Since God is eternal, there has never been a time when He did not exist. He had no beginning and will have no end.

Revelation 1:8 ESV
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Being eternal, God is not bound by time. Having always existed, He sees the past and the future as clearly as He sees the present. With that perspective, He has a perfect understanding of what is best for our lives. Therefore, we should trust Him with all areas of our lives.

Immutability
God Never Changes
Malachi 3:6 ESV
6 “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
Omniscience
God knows all things present and future. Nothing takes Him by surprise
Psalm 139:1–6 ESV
1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me! 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
Omnipresence
God is present everywhere
Proverbs 15:3 ESV
3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
This means you can’t hide from Him and this also means that us believers are never alone.
Omnipotence
God is all powerful.
Jeremiah 32:17 ESV
17 ‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
Love
God is love
1 John 4:7–8 ESV
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Truth
God is the only true God and his word is the truth.
1 John 5:20 ESV
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

God’s Authority

God the Father has the authority to command what we must do. We are not robots, we have to choose God. But God has commanded what we must do
We can always focus on the love of Jesus and that is so important, but we must also not forget the authority Jesus has in our life. God is Jesus and Jesus is God.
(tell them to pull out their phones and invite someone to the all-dayer)
Continue to know God more through Jesus. We can talk to God through Jesus.
Hebrews 1:3 ESV
3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Tonight, go home and just bow your heads to God and tell Him how amazing He is. That He is the God who has created you
Discussion Questions:

What kind of Authority should He have in your life?
