What is Conviction? John 16:8-14
Conviction is the Lord opening your heart to receive His Word
Of sin: the Holy Spirit convicts us as sinners to receive God’s salvation
Of Righteousness: Jesus is not here to show His perfect morality, so the Holy Spirit provides that assurance
Of Judgememt: the prince of the world is Satan, and without Jesus we will be judged alongside him.

The Holy Spirit was sent after the ascension of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us

The Holy Spirit convicts you when you hear God’s word. How will the lost hear God’s word except through his people?

Through God’s word the Holy Spirit tells you that you are a sinner that will be judged unless you accept the righteous gift of Jesus. Through conviction we can also understand God’s word.
