Tithe

Probably one of the more controversial topics there is
For some reason money is the taboo thing
Matthew 6:21 NKJV
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Not a lot of things move us quite like money
Because it’s attached to our heart
INFLUENCES:
Your opinions on people or thing
Your time
What you’re willing to tolerate(Maybe your job)
Can cost your family, your friends and even your life
People will do crazy thing because of it and for it
Can make you immoral
When you really break it down money is a tool
It’s a multiplier positive or negative characteristics
It’s probably one of the best exposers of character there is
What does the Bible say about money?
It says to give a tenth or 10% of all your increase
Deuteronomy 14:28 NKJV
28 “At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.
Tithe is Hebrew for 10th or 10%
You can’t tenth a 1/20
On the gross or net?
Statistically speaking on 2.7% of Evangelical Christians tithe
There’s freedom in the 10%
It gives you a specific amount to know exactly what to give
It gives you a specific amount that is applicable if you make 10 dollars or 10 Billion
2. It’s first
22 times it says in proverbs alone to give first fruits
Agrarian Culture
When you put grain up it come off the top
You don’t get off on technicality because you’re not a farmer
Goes to the local church
which is a new testament representation of the old testament storehouse
Deuteronomy 14:23–25 NKJV
23 And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always. 24 But if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the Lord your God has blessed you, 25 then you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses.
Sarah and I giving first
It doesn’t have to be lawful
3. It’s pre law
Genesis 14:18–20 NKJV
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; 20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.
Abraham didn’t do this because it was commanded of him, he did it cause he was faithful
He was guided by his Faith in God
Jacob did the same thing in Genesis 28
Jesus talked about it in the new testament
Matthew 23:23 NKJV
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
Jesus said you should be doing both
4. He supplies seed to the sower
2 Corinthians 9:6–12 NKJV
6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 9 As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” 10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God,

Malachi 3:10 NKJV
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
Test Him:
I have a game i like to play
I just keep upping my or you could call it giving offerings
This isn’t a Heaven or Hell issue:
There’s a lot of principles that your salvation doesn’t hang on the balance of
Mark 12:31 NKJV
31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Do you?
We don’t give to gain God’s affection, we give because it makes us into who he wants us to be
There are systems that God has set up that you don’t have to follow to get into Heaven but I wouldn’t recommend living on earth without them
Hebrews 11:8–10 NKJV
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
The Father of the Faithful
Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
