A FATHERS FIGHT FOR HIS FAMILY

21 When Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him; and so He stayed by the seashore.

22 One of the synagogue officials named Jairus *came up, and on seeing Him, *fell at His feet

23 and *implored Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she will get well and live.”

35 While He was still speaking, they *came from the house of the synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?”

36 But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, *said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.”

37 And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James.

38 They *came to the house of the synagogue official; and He *saw a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing.

39 And entering in, He *said to them, “Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep.”

40 They began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He *took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and *entered the room where the child was.

41 Taking the child by the hand, He *said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which translated means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).

42 Immediately the girl got up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded.

43 And He gave them strict orders that no one should know about this, and He said that something should be given her to eat.

INTRO

Texual: Mark chapter 5 is apart of what is called the St. Jude’s passage. St. Jude (the patron saints of Lost Causes) to which the hospital in Memphis is named after is believed to launched his life’s pursuits after the Idea that with God there are no loss causes. It's never too late for God.

The deliverance of the Demoniac, the woman with the issue of blood and the healing of Jairus’s daughter are biblical of example that God is a God who is not limited to being able to do and deal with hopeful situations but a God who can handle Hopeless situations as well.

Illustration: Both In the Movie Creed and in the movie Big George we get an Idea from Sylvester Stallone character (Rocky) and then in Big George, story of George Forman Forest Whiticar’s character as his trainer says to the boxer that the biggest fight that they will face will not be in the ring but Inside your self. The battle with the man in the mirror.

There is some reality in those statements. There is some truth to those statements. Paul often viewed the christian life as a fight, a struggle, a wrestle, a battle in the mind, a conflict.

In Romans 7:23 he calls it a “war inside his members”

In 1 Corithians 9:26 he says “So fight I not as one that beats the air. 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it unto subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to other, I myself should be a castaway.

In 1 Timothy 6:11-14 he says “I have fought a good fight”

Yes brothers and sisters the Christian life is a fight and your biggest aponent wakes up with you in the morning, you brush his teeth, wash his face, bath his body, put his clothes on him, drive him to work. He is with you all day everyday. And if you beat him yesterday he demands a rematch today.

The man Jarius in our text today has several battle’s that he must win in order to see the power of God released in his life.

The Story:

BODY

The story reveals that he has to win the battle over:

I. SUBMISSION

II. INCLUSION

III.CONSISTANCY

IV. PRIVATE POWER OVER PUBLIC DISPLAY

I.SUBMISSION

A. He has to admit that the problem he is having at home, he as a man can’t handle. Giving it to Jesus is Handling it.

1. Man submit to another man

2. Religious official to Redeemer

3. Has to admit that the synagog is good for some stuff but it can’t cure his daughter.

(Church is good, but some stuff is going to require that you take Jesus home with you)

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He shall lift you up

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves before the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in

due season.

A. God means something else to somebody else. You can’t limit God to your own testimony.

a. While on his way to Jairus’s house to touch his daughter, somebody is on their way to

Touch Jesus, and she does.

Contrast:

Jairus —————————- a certain women

A man———————a women

Ruler of the synagog————- unclean

Comes and bows at Jesus feet——————comes and touches from behind

Comes to get Jesus to touch his daugher———comes to touch him herself

You can’t control who Jesus ministers to and when He ministers to them. Some people will be in line before you.

III. PERSISTENCE (Keep your focus on me and not the problem”

A. By now they say to him from the house “don’t bother him any more, she is dead”

B. Jesus over hears it and says to him “Be not afraid, keep on believing”

1. I have enough power to be something to somebody else and still meet your need.

2. don’t be jeoulous of Her, use it as motivation because if I can handle a woman who

Had a12 years old issue surely I can handle a 12 year old with an issue.

Paul says in Timothy “I have kept the faith”

IV. BE PRIVATLY POWERFUL INSTEAD OF PUBLICKLY POPULAR

A. You may not receive any thanks publickly or acknowledgement but do it because it needs to be done.

Think about how much stuff God as the perfect Father does and we never acknowledge Him for but because it needed to be done.

Why not say anything?

What is understood need not be explained.
