Reflections on the Daily Theme
Yesterday: Sin distorted God’s image in us
Ask: What is sin? How does it impact our relationship with God? Why do we need a Savior?
Tell student to wear gray “sin” shirt
This represents the sin in our lives
We are all sinners and owe a debt that cannot be paid by us
Today: Image Renewed
Desperate in sin > Jesus came to rescue and renew
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Tell student to wear white shirt over grey shirt
Surrender = New Creation
Father’s image renewed in us
Read verses on note cards
Colossians 1:13–14 ESV
13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 2:13 ESV
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
Ephesians 2:4–5 ESV
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Galatians 2:20 ESV
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
1 John 1:9 ESV
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
