Introduction

Last week we dove into our Purpose, both individually and as a local church and youth ministry.
Knowing what your purpose is in this life is crucial.
Today, more than anything I want to offer you some encouragement on what to do with your purpose. How to use it.
How your purpose comes into play as you navigate the journey that is this life.
Today we are going to dive into what the bible says about our Journey through this life, and see how Christ calls us to cling to him on the journey.
The Godward journey is a journey on which every individual is launched, all unknowingly, at birth.
Christopher Bryan
every person, is born into the world and has the choice from that moment on of if they will live a life that is glorifying to God or a life that is in rebellion to him.
That is the Godward journey we are all on, one in which we will all meet God at some point.
Fire, one person sitting in the kitchen, the other in their bedroom with AirPods in.
That fire affects both kids, one is aware of it and has made the necessary decisions to avoid it. The other can’t hear the alarms and so without being aware of it they are consumed by it.
We each have the opportunity to be aware of the eternity in hell that awaits all who live in rebellion to God. Will we be prepared to avoid those flames or will we be so caught up in the world, so caught up in the distractions that we simply miss it.
I don’t say that to scare anyone
I believe the gospel is urgent and we don’t know the day nor the hour that we will face that eternity.
There is no truth more important to know than the fact that Christ is the only one that can save all of us from that fire and instead give us the gift of eternity.
Today, I want to equip you with 3 pieces of advise that I think will help get us on track in that journey with Christ. Today you may have a stronger relationship with Christ than you ever have or maybe you are at your lowest place in that walk with Christ, maybe you don’t have a relationship with him at all.
But regardless of where you are at, These truths are tried and true and will apply to your Godward journey in this life.

#1 We Are All Sinners

Romans 3:23 CSB
23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
We are all born broken, in the dark.
No one can live up to the standard, that is the glory of God
But listen to this
Romans 6:23 CSB
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Even though we deserve death because of our rebellion, the gift of God to humanity was Jesus.
He is the greatest gift we could ever have
We didn’t deserve it, we chose temporary pleasure over God glorification.

#2 God’s sacrifice Makes a way

Romans 5:8 CSB
8 But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus, our gift died on the cross for us while we were broken, while we were in rebellion.
He was mocked, beaten, and eventually killed by us on the cross, and yet he still provides a way for us to inherit eternal life.
He still wants a relationship with each of us.
While we were in our darkest valleys, Christ stepped in as the light.

#3 It’s a gift, we can’t measure up

Know this about Christ, that you nor I will ever be worthy of the gift. That we will fail every day, that our relationship with Christ will never be a vertical line of improvement.
It’s a trend over time
It will look more like a zig zag line than anything
Over time and as you continue to grow in your relationship, you will more than anything develop a deeper appreciation for the gift, knowing in your heart that you could never measure up, but at the same time realizing that the God of the universe wants to give the gift to you.
That he wants to be your Lord, that’s the truth that will set you free.
Jesus died for us while we were still sinners, that’s the gift.
Maybe you don’t know that gift today
Maybe you have been blind to the fire that is burning, being so caught up in your own head.
Maybe you’ve been coming to church for a long time and you have for one reason or another closed off that relationship with Christ.
Jesus, wants to set you free!
Jesus, wants to give you the gift!
How do you receive that gift?
Romans 10:9–10 CSB
9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
God Rebellion
Atonement
Confession Eternal life
It’s more than we deserve
It’s all we could ever need
It’s the greatest decision you could ever make
It’s urgent
It changed my life
It can change yours.
What are you waiting on today? Choose Jesus
