Life hands because we’re commanded
There are moments where we should shout - there are moments we need to sing - there are moments we need to lament. We need to pause. We need to linger.
We’re concerned about the SUBSTANCE of the thing — not how something looks
We’re going to look a little different in the way we worship — we all have different bends.
If I tried to preach like Pastor - it would be wrong! Why?
Different gifts // Saul’s armor
You might be more of a dancer, you might be more of a contemplator — And there are moments where we all need to be all of these things. Right?
Its like the church that didn’t want pews and wanted dress casual so they took all the pews out and all wore flip flops — and then shunned the person who wore a suit to church … They became the very thing they were trying to change.
What happened — More concerned with a Form than the substance
I don’t want Saul’s armor!
I dont care how it looks!
We might be too crazy — or too outspoken — Or maybe we’re too serious
We are not going to please everyone — AND WE’RE NOT GOING TO TRY!!
I don’t care how messy or how clean something gets — WHAT IS GOD DOING?! WHAT IS THE SUBSTANCE? THAT’S WHAT I’M GOING AFTER
Hear me — I would deem it a failure if we had the right form, but no substance.
Every one is raising their hands in worship, singing loud, shouting amen … but their hearts are far from God.
We look good!
We’re not going to wear Saul’s armor — We’re not going to be concerned with the Form
BC when we obsess over the Form - how something should look - MORE than stepping back and asking God what He wants to do--
We are saying “God you have permission to move ONLY in the areas I allow”
That is a dangerous place to be
Its exactly what James writes in his letter — it is a faith without works, so it’s dead!
It is a belief — it is a form — but its hollow. Its nothing but a preference.
There is no sacrifice of praise — its just a sacrifice of preference.
I wonder how many times we’ve missed revival because it didn’t look like our preference.
LET’S BE BOLD — RAISE YOUR HANDS! SING LOUD!
WORSHIP GOD!!! THAT’S WHY WE’RE HERE!
