United We Stand

Psalm 133:1. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! In Unity

To begin with brothers and sisters Christian Friends Well Wishers and Saints of God this is a plain old simple text. It’s a clear text. United we stand and divided we fall. Everybody say it “United we stand, divided we fall” That simple 3x Don’t forget that. And so, As the good Lord allowed me to deal with the historicity of the psalms, I must reiterate that we have to be united. Church if it was ever a time that we the church ought to be united that time is now. Tell your neighbor: “Let’s stay together.” The psalmist says that it’s a good thing when brethren and sisters, church folk, and African Americans can come together in unity.

The Book of Psalms is a remarkable book.Listen 2 x The book of Psalms is unique in the Bible because all 150 of the Psalms, is a compilation of a great collection of literature of History of Mystery of prayer, of praise, and of meditation. And so let me teach you something

1. The Bible has narrative materials in the psalms that relates to what God has done. And

2. The Bible has prophetic literature in the Psalms that reports on what God has said, and finally

3. The Bible in the Psalms presents the responses of the people alongside the mighty acts of God.

4. The Bible rehearse in the Psalms the powerful, potent, and prophetic words of God!!!

Psalm is a book of the people. Can I teach a little but? The Psalms are especially valued for both public worship and private devotion among Jews and Christians alike. If you want to feel better about your life, read the Psalms If you want wisdom poetry literature singing and song selections read Psalms.

Everything you need, want, or desire to know about is in this Bible. Bible 3x Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth Book. And I don’t care how intelligent you are, with scholarly research and all, if you’re wise You’ll come to discover that you don’t read the bible, the bible read you! Do I have a witness?

I gather and get the feeling here that David really means for us to dwell in unity. And not to hold on to grudges or strife and staying mad too long and sometimes we have forgotten why we were mad in the first place.

David says stay together, but you can’t tell me how to stay together unless you’ve had at least one occasion where you personally saw division, separation, strife, bickering, backbiting, Fussing cussing and fighting and People not acting like Christian Hearted People.

David said you can’t tell it like I can tell it I know when people have jealousy and stuff and refuse to get along with you. Listen brothers and sisters it all started when David was the shepherd boy that the prophet Samuel came anointed to be king. God allowed David shortly thereafter killed the giant Goliath with a rock and a sling shot while the whole army stood back like cowards including King Saul. Then the women along the way said, Saul has killed his thousands oh but David, has killed his ten thousands.. And king Saul got furiously mad and tried to kill David multiple times. Long story short David had to run for his life until king Saul was dead.

So David knew about brethren dwelling in unity. David said in out theme text “Look at how good it is when we can come together and get things done in God’s vineyard in God’s community and in God’s House. David said it’s good because it will be like the precious anointed oil that ran down Aaron’s beard.

Let’s read verse two together 2 .It is like the precious ointment upon the head, That ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: That went down to the skirts of his garments;

I see several things here 1. The precious oil The Hebrew word for oil is Sheh-men. It means a fertile fatness that grease down with richness and it’s a prominent symbol of the anointing. Brothers and sisters I know we’re Baptist but ain’t nothing wrong with having some anointed oil. Because I’d rather have the anointing than to have luck and fortune. I’d rather have God’s favor with the anointing than to have fun that will fizzle before the finish that causes a fatal blow. It’s just better to have God’s anointing. it’s better to have the anointed oil pour out on you. Shemen the Oil I rather have Shemen Than to have un rest, chaos, rambunctious, riotous reveres going on all around me.

And all that stuff going around you isn’t good because sometimes you not even the one cutting up and carrying on, but birds of a feather flock together. And if you always around that, then that’s what you’ll always gravitate towards. And if you always gravitate toward that then I’ve got to put the formal definition with that. Psychologist say that “Association bring on As simulation, As simulation brings on Accommodation, and Accommodation bring on Equilbration. And when Equilabration comes on you, no matter how you try to say I’m not with that. People won’t see it that way. The Law certainly won’t see it that way. Here’s example: If you in a car where you boys lighting up and even though you ain’t lighting up you with them. If the police stops and searches the car, and they find something. No Matter how you try to speak up and say I’m not with them, the police ain’t hearing that You going to jail with a charge and it’s going to take bail money to get you out…

So long time ago I shut my friends down and said. Hey look I’m married now. Hold up nah I’m a preacher now. Wait nah I live a different kind of way now because believe it or not birds of a feather flock together.

2. The Shemen, the anointed oil ran down Aaron’s beard. Aaron was the High priest to Moses. Aaron was also Moses’ older brother. You’ll remember Miriam right? Miriam was Moses’ older sister the same one that put little baby Moses in the floating basket in the Nile river so Pharoah daughter who could not have children could see him. And that’s how Moses ended up a Prince in Egypt.

So one day when all of them are much older Aaron and Miriam tried to strong arm Moses. Yeah they said “Yeah Moses you ain’t the only one that God talks to”. And God heard them arguing and put everybody outside the tent. God said Moses is my servant and that’s who I talk to and ya’ll hush up. And the bible says that Miriam instantly caught leprosy and then Moses pleaded and prayed and petitioned God for Miriam. And God healed Miriam and put her out the camp seven days.God gave her a chance. Tell your neighbor: God gave her another chance. And God gave Aaron another chance too. Some of us have done some stuff that just ain’t right and God have given us another chance. Aaron had stuff too. Aaron built a golden calf as an idol god because Moses took too long up in the mountain talking to God. Well since Moses ain’t coming down in the time span that I think he ought to Aaron let them people push him up. Aaron should not have let them people push him up to be wicked in the eyesight of God.

And Yet! The TEXT says that The Oil the Shemen ran down the beard of Aaron the high priest.

Aaron is forgiven…and revived, and restored, and reverence as the high priest… and and and lastly Aaron is given the anointed oil that is designed to bless God’s people. And the oil is running down his beard down his robe down to skirt of his robe. Yes in deed.

And so what the point Rev? If God can use a no good somebody like Aaron to be the high priest and to be a blessing to somebody else, then God can certainly use any one of us for the same thing. Lord use me in your service draw me nearer everyday. Because Lord I’m willing to run all the way.

Verse 2 again “It is like the precious ointment upon the head,That ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: That went down to the skirts of his garments;” And then it gets better because verse 3 says “It is like the dew of Mount Hermon falling on the hills of Jerusalem.There the LORD gives his blessing of life forever”.

The psalmist writes of Mt. Hermon “It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. Because Mt Zion represents Jerusalem. and it is there that the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.” (Judges 18) The tribe of Dan conquered the city of Laish and renamed it Dan taking the fertile and temperate lands in Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights area as a part of their territory. The Dew of Hermon rested in this area and so let me describe the Dew.

The Dew of Hermon was when the cool breeze from the Mediterranean Sea would collide with the hot desert air coming up to Mt. Hermon and when this happened there was a copious viscous mist that flowed gently down the mountain side. And it produced a special dew that fell on the ground. And everywhere the Special Dew fell, the ground (All Around it)was fertile and flush and plush. The ground was able to sustain all manner of life. It was like a smaller version of the Garden of Eden. Teach me pastor.

And so they planted olive gardens, all kinds of fruit trees and all kind vegetables and their livestock grazed there and their herds got fatter quicker. And so The Dew of Herman was a beautiful blessing. And the Psalmist is describing what God does with His people.

The Dew of Herman is like a wet sea breeze of air in a hot hot desert place. And that’s how it is with Jesus.

Jesus comes and delivers us from a hot low bottom hell um um and He brings us where the hot and hellish collides with the calm and cool gentle breeze from the heavens. Great God and Jesus Tells us to cast our cares upon the Lord Because He careth for us. Yes sir and

Jesus come and bring us Living water in dry desert places.Oh Lord And

Jesus comes and tells us to love one another with God’s Love. And Psalmist give specific instruction for us to be together in unity. I’ve got to to close here ya’ll but Jesus, He’s a rock in the wearied land. Jesus, He’s the answer for the sin sick soul today. yes and I’m praying that Jesus bestow upon Pilgrim a Dew of Herman blessing. A blessing that so thick and deep and so wide and so high that nobody can stop our progress.

Oh lord because I know that Jesus is still in the prayer answering business and He’s still upon His throne oh yes he is. Jesus is a shelter in the time of a storm. Oh Lordy I heard Jesus saying a House divided against it self can not stand. OOO OO Oo Lord . And My prayer is “Lord oh Lord Lordy Please keep us together and Please Jesus keep us on One Accord. Please Sir to Have Mercy Oh Lord Oh Lordy ah.

Yes because when it’s all over down here and I’ve preached my last sermon , I’ve prayed my last prayer and I’ve sung my last song.. I want to Lord to say Servant ! Servant Servant Servant! Well Done 3x Oh Lord
