In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.”Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Today we have hope because Natalie believed this verse in life and now it is her reality in death.
I never knew Natalie in life but I have learned much about her since her death.
I’ve learned about her love for her family. Her passion for teaching.
I learned about her quick wit and her chicken spaghetti.
Her love of her grandchildren and the bonds and stories they shared.
I learned about the many trips to Disney and the joy that what some people would call “the happiest place on earth” brought her.
As I stand before you today I feel the least qualified to speak to her life and yet even in not knowing her personally I can tell so much about her from the people she surrounded herself with and the way she wanted this service to be.
When I heard she wanted to have “It is Well” sung I knew that was a message for you her family, the ones she loved the most. Its a reminder to you that all is well now with her. She is at peace. No pain, no suffering, enjoying time with her Savior.
It isn’t just a reminder of her life but her prayer for ours as well. May it be well with our soul because of who we know we are in Christ. It is undeniable that Natalie knew Christ. The love that she showed others demonstrated the love that she knew in God.
In John 14 Jesus says if you know me then you know my father. There is no doubt Natalie knew.
For Graveside
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
