Intro
Intro
1. Ask question? “Is anyone sitting here this morning human?” Hopefully you all answered in the affirmative and because you’re human you probably at one time or another have worried or anxious about something. (another possibility for intro is story of how we used to sing Bob Marley’s “3 Little Birds” to our kids when they would get anxious about something)
a. Maybe look up some stats on anxiety?
b. Share story of MaMa? Worry was one of the main things her children remembered about her.
2. The truth is we all worry, we all get anxious no matter what stage of life we are in and we approach Jesus’ challenge to not be anxious with a little bit of scepticism (that’s nice but not possible), or more worry (he’s right I should be doing better! How can I do better?).
a. Jesus’ admonition might even seem laughable given the historic context it’s given in. 1st century Jews were constantly beset with worries (list out worries here).
