We move from God’s glory to His providence

God’s Past Miracles (vv. 7-12)

There is a long list of miraculous ways that God has provided for His people, and Habakkuk thankfully was moved to dwell on some of those miracles
Those trembling in the promised land (v. 7) -> even after the spy report and long wait (40+ year gap) (Num. 13:26-33 -> Josh. 2:9-11)
Habakkuk had to realize that those in Jericho had more faith in his God than he did at the moment
God’s judgement continually revealed (vv. 9, 12)
The bow of God’s wrath will be ultimately used to destroy His enemy, and God has made this crystal clear
His past word has dictated such to take place (Egypt, Canaanites, Philistines, soon to be Babylon) -> also future Babylon
The Babylonians were ruthless, but God was far more powerful (v. 12-14)
God has full power over creation, and we would do well to respond the same way (v. 10)
Displayed when God stopped the sun and moon in Joshua 10 (v. 11)

For the Salvation of His People (vv. 13-15)

God did not arbitrarily manipulate creation (v. 8), but rather for salvation (v. 13)
We can almost see the light bulb light up in chapter 3
More than a religion of thought -> worship a God of action (Job 42:1-6)
Comfort is found in the mighty acts of God (Josh. 10:11-14, Ex. 15:1-18)
Red Sea as a type for salvation revealed in NT -> what greater comfort exists? (Rev. 21:1-5 -> Aegan sea in exile comparison, no more separation)
