Eph 2:1-10 - And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.[b] But[c] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

The Old You

We have a nasty habit of going back to our old ways, why is this an issue? The reason we have faith is because what we once were left us in trouble, short comings, hurt, pain, stuck, and lost in our ways.
It may not seem hard when we are in a good place. But when we are not in a good place, feel like the world is collapsing in on us, we have a tendency to fall back to the areas of life we wanted to leave behind.
The old you does not mix well with the new you. Its like mixing motor oil with water. You can have a huge glass a water (the new you) and when you put even a few drops of motor oil in it (old you) the entire glass is contaminated. We have to re-purify ourselves to rid the old us away. Focus is on Verse 1-3

Guilt of the past

This is something all of us have felt at one time or another! When we think about how good God is and what He has done and is doing, then we self reflect and see the worst in ourselves because of what we have done.
When the devil tries to remind you of your past, you remind him of his future
looking back should not mean you forget your past and forget the trials, we are to learn from our mistakes, and walk paths with experience to not walk the same paths again. No more detours the destination God has for us.

You Are His Masterpiece

First you need to realize you are not a mistake, there is nothing wrong with you, you are created for purpose, and God loves the whole you to the most naked heart of ours
Paper Airplane example
We are each credited uniquely with a purpose and for a purpose greater than our own knowledge and understanding
In our faith we are redeemed from our yesterday, we are set aside for His calling, we just have to say “yes” we have to have a heart that seeks God.
God created Heaven and Earth, He never changed our planet from square instead of circle, He didnt change the atmospheric pressure, He didnt change the sun rotating to give us light, He doesn’t change all the birds to pigs because maybe pigs are more useful.
So God doesn’t want to change you in your faith, He is gonna better us, empower us, help us turn from the things that were holding us back in anyway.
You are His masterpiece!
