Both are really

revelations of ongoing Salvation History.

Both Stories …

Indicate God’s deep preparation of world events →

the conditions for our salvation;

. → Assurance of God’s Abiding Love

The Bible can seem to be a collection of disconnected passages

especially when broken into parts for daily Mass readings.

The unity of this long sweep of story can remind us to see all of the Bible as the telling of a single story:

of God’s creative, forgiving and redeeming love:

salvation history.

We need to member this for our own sakes;

to see the bigger picture of God at work throughout the Scriptures,

to keep it before the people we serve, so that they can see it gratefully

in times of joy;

so that they can be strengthened by it in difficult times.
