Foundational Truth 9: We Are On Mission
God wants us to spread the Gospel about Jesus to bring others into His Kingdom.
Relevant Bible Verses:
Matthew 28:18–20 KJV 1900
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 7:13–14 KJV 1900
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
2 Timothy 4:1–4 KJV 1900
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Big Questions to Tackle:

Q: "I believe in Jesus and I know I'm saved... Now what? Why am I not just in Heaven already?*

A: You may believe in Jesus and know that you're going to Heaven, but not everyone in the world does... and God wants everyone to come back to Him! He has given us all the special mission to show the whole world the light and love of Jesus.

Q: "Will everyone that hears about Jesus believe and choose to follow Him?"

A: Sadly, no. Paul the Apostle, the greatest missionary ever, and even Jesus Himself had people ignore them or angrily reject what they were teaching and preaching. You could do everything "right," by acting perfectly humble and kind, and saying all the "right words, and people still might not believe. But don't worry- God wants everyone to believe in Him, and He has a time and an opportunity waiting for them to choose Jesu Since we don't know when that time is, we should show everyone Jesus as much as possible!

Q: "What does it mean to "show people Jesus"?*

A: People are a lot more likely to want to believe what you tell them about Jesus if you are also showing them all the awesome things about Him. True love, peace, kindness, and joy, even when life is hard, only come from knowing God, and everyone needs that! Do your best to speak and act like Jesus (humble, kind, and loving) everywhere you go, and people will want to know how they can get what you have- a relationship wit Jesus!

We want our students to understand...

No matter what our specific calling is in life, we are all called to be missionaries of the Gospel The best way to get others to believe in Jesus is by showing them who He is through your actions. You can only act, talk, and love like Jesus if you really know Him.
