Isaiah 55:6-9

This is a continuation of this morning in a way!
He is available and near......seek Him!
To someone completely oblivious of God’s Word and I would add sound teaching, what would be there response to this?
What are we seeking God for?
A lot of teachings do not deal with the reasons we are need of the Lord!
Mostly, their teaching turns into earthly needs.
This gets me into trouble, but some look to God as their Genie in a bottle!
I am not against making our petitions to the Lord, I am not against calling on Him for earthly deliverance
I am stating that that is not the reason we are seeking the Lord, those would be by-products of our faith!
The most severe need within the human is to find a new way! Our ways and thoughts are corrupt!
We are a fallen creation living in a body of death that constantly goes against the One and Only True God our Maker, we are in desperate need, spiritually!
An indictment is given in Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
Desperately means “incurably” wicked!
Nothing we can do about it!
Israel realizes how bad off they/we are when they look back in the tribulation period and look on Christ, Who they rejected, and state in Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
“All we” everyone has went to his own way......Our own way is classified as iniquity, which is sin.
Romans 3:9 “What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;”
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
That is what our own way is classified as and throw in our own thoughts!
How severe should we take this passage? I believe severe, even in a saved condition!
I have evaluated my thoughts and ways and they fall desperately short and it is incurable!
They are what they are, they stand but Jesus when He died on the cross washed me thoroughly, cleansed me and faced my punishment for all of them!
I believe that is as serious as it gets!
So understanding that we can near to God’s thoughts and ways, then we must forsake ours and turn to the Lord (Jesus) while He may be found!
As in Noah’s day, when the door shuts it shuts!
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”
John 12:35-36 “Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.”
Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, To all that call upon him in truth.”
Matthew 9:13 “But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
If you think you are righteous, you might be lost!
The Lord will show mercy and abundantly pardon!
I love what Paul Washer said when speaking about being ambassadors of Christ: “How can it be? It would of been an astounding measure of grace, if He just sent us to hell for awhile, but He has kept us out completely. It would of been an astounding measure of grace of He put us somewhere neutral, where no place could be found for us and left us there for eternity. That would of been grace in light of our sins. It would be inconceivable that He would set us on the level of angels and make us servants in His court. But He has made us sons and daughters and if that were not enough, ambassadors of His own dear Son, Christ!......There is such a majesty in that, such beauty!”
Ephesians 1:6-8.........
1 Timothy 1:15-16 “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.”
