You know it is exciting to reflect on our past and remember all the blessings God has graciously given. But, at this time I would like for you to put that in your rear-view mirror and get real with yourself as individuals, families, AND AS the church. The true believers of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The topic that God has laid on my heart is one of urgency and importance. The topic of today’s message is a question: Are you prepared and ready for what's on the horizon?

There are many warning signs of evil and challenging times ahead. America is radically changing and Satan is the mastermind and has been conditioning the church into a state of complacency and silence over many decades.

History can be very educational, Satan has had a battle plan to silence the church that started many years ago here in America.

In 1954 Senator Lyndon Johnson used the tax code to stifle the speech of churches, so churches could not endorse a political candidate. Then in 1987 another Texas politician J.J. Pickle amended the law to include the church could not oppose any political candidate. The church sat silent and did not take an aggressive stand.

In the 60’s the US Supreme Court took prayer out of the public schools- WHICH IN EFFECT REMOVED THE PROTECTION FOR PEOPLE OF FAITH FROM GOVERNMENT INTRUSION, AS THE FOUNDERS INTENDED- THE JUDICIARY INSTEAD SENT A MESSAGE THAT THE PUBLIC SQUARE SHOULD BE STRIPPED OF FAITH ENTIRELY.

In 1973 the Supreme Court ruled that women had the “right to an abortion”. The church leaders did not speak out boldly against this evil.(just because this ruling was finally overturned, abortion is still legal in over half of our States) Our country has spiraled out of control since this time.

The well know Theologian and Pastor, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, that lived in Germany during the 1930’s and 40’s during the Hitler reign of terror. He was trying to warn the confessing churches of Germany to stand up and be heard before Hitler took over power. Bonhoeffer is credited with saying this: Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. God will not hold us guiltless. Bonhoeffer was executed by Hitler in 1945, he was just 39 years old.
