There is no program, method, ritual, rule, edict, or law that will make you love the word of God Bible.

Making you love the Bible is not my job!

You will love Gods Word because of His love for you

You will not love Gods word because of your love for yourself

Making you understand our continual need for the Bible in our life is my job

[vs 1-12] His Great Salvation [A Gift]

!!!---Its HIS UNCHANGEABLE PLAN---!!!

God is still on His original plan!

We can be a part of it or crushed by it…{BINARY}

The lost world hates that and us for speaking that…so understand that

[vs 13-17] Our Great Obligation [Obedience]

We Live His Faith today and Rest in His Hope for tomorrow

We hate Our sin, seek His righteousness, and are always growing in His Holiness

We joyfully try and out give our gracious master

No legalistic rules but generous offerings of worship

We bring and share everything He has provided...

[vs 18-21] Wonders of Our Great Salvation [Thankfulness]

Salvation Can’t be bought with Created Things [#1 Temporal / #2 No Moral Value]

Bought with an Eternal HOLY God sacrificing His only Eternal Holy Son! [Expensive]

[vs 22-25] LAST WEEK - Our Exclusive Supernatural Love [Uniqueness]

World does not have it [Corrupt]

World cannot attain it [Dead]

World doesen’t understand it [Selfish]

World couldn’t even appreciate it [Temporal]

So what - RESULT of Remembering our Great Salvation?

Gods word will affect our lifestyle...

So rid yourselves...

Imperative Participle [Commanding] action on our part...

Eliminating Personal Sins is Inversely Proportional to Loving Gods Word...

We meet to

Work on our personal sins [not others]

Share His glorious achievements in our lives

Early church Baptisms exchanged clothes

Person would discard their old clothes before baptism

Put on new covering after baptism [Symbolic of New Life]

(Rom. 6:3–7; 2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 4:24)

Bottom line: We each work on ourselves...

English has the idea of desiring to harm someone else

is an all-inclusive word for sin referring to general wickedness and baseness

Connected with Hypocrisy/Envy

[dolos] literally referring to “bait” or a “fishhook.”

English It means guile, dishonesty, falsehood, and treachery

More specific Pharisee or religious phony to sway others [Outward - Offensive Tactic]

Connected with Deceit/Envy

(hupokrisis), Identified an actor who wore a mask. [spiritual insincerity and pretense]

English means any behavior inconsistent with personal belief or opinion

More specific Judas Iscariot fraud hiding behind mask of religion [Outward - Defensive Tactic]

Connected with Hypocrisy/Deceit

(phthonos) defines the attitude of those who resent others’ prosperity

English would be that person fixed on temporal things of this world

More specific Covetous Materialistic Behavior [Inner - Offensive Tactic]

(katalalias), an onomatopoeic word designed to sound like the whispers and tattles reported behind someone’s back in gossip and backbiting

English Whisper [did you hear] ...(katalalias)

Whisper [do you know] ...(katalalias)

Whisper [I have some news for you] ...(katalalias)

More specific gossiping mouth

These are the things we must and will lose in our lives....

What We Gain...

Insight to our Abilities

We are His Sheep -OR- we are our own Goats

Everything God is providing is His way of Guiding

Peter emphasized infant with NEWBORN infant [Impatient for Satisfaction]

Satisfaction that only comes from our Spiritual Father

#1 - Desire for the Pure Milk of the Word

“Read the Word, Study the Word, Meditate on the Word, Teach the Word, Preach the Word, Search the Word, or Memorize the Word”

Peter focused on our longing for our Desire

God given desire from beginning [i.e. Garden] is still judged by its DIRECTION

Desire focused inward for personal gain [sin]

Desire focused outward for personal growth [Righteousness]

Pure Spiritual Milk

I the best descriptor of Absolute Basic Truth

The Word became flesh…Jn 1:14 “The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

#2 - Growth in Respect to Salvation

Slide [Growth] “Like newborn infants, desire the pure spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it for your salvation,”

May grow??? [Passive Verb] literally reading it MAY GROW you

But it also implies “it may not” [Another Free Choice?]

The structure of the sentence is

#1 Infant Spiritual Babies

#2 Desire Pure Spiritual Milk

#3 That will Spiritually Grow them....Or Not [Freedom to chose better/bitter]

NOTE: Motivation to be grown by the word?

Discontent with personal sins....

We must be clear about the debilitating effects of sin

How do we Eliminate MALICE, DECIET, HYPOCRISY, ENVY, SLANDER

The Word of God!!!

Finally its our PERSONAL your salvation we are talking about here

Paul said Phil 2:12-13 “So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.”

Peter borrows from the Psalmist Ps 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!”

We live thankful lives in an UNGRATEFUL WORLD

Light is Thankfulness & Dark is Ingratitude

God is good....All the time....

Thats our God [Amen] thats our Father [Amen] Thats our Savior [Amen] Thats our Lord [Amen] Etc...

We get to serve and serve we will...
