What do I believe God wants us to know? He works all things for good
Why? It gives us comfort, joy, and peace
What do I believe God wants us to do? Love and trust Him
Why? It makes all things work for good
ME/WE
One of things that is true of me and true of almost anyone I know is that we we want to know the future.
I am not talking about our eternal future because for many of us that is secure in Christ, we will reign with Him forever, we will be reconciled to our Father in heaven…that’s secure.
The future we want to know is what is the next six months going to look like, the next year going to look like, in a couple of years, what is life going to be like in five years
Anybody ever thought that
Many times this gets highten around bigger life decision such as a new job, new relationship (friendship or potentially spouse) does it end?? or does it proceed to marriage and what type of marriage is that going to be
Maybe you are like me you love at times for your life to be like the CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE BOOKS
ANYBODY REMEMBER THOSE BOOKS?
For those of you who do not know they are books you would read a page or two and then get presented with a couple of options on how you could proceed.
you could do A, B, C, D
To be honest I would like to cheat in the book because if I chose A and it was not good I chose B and if B was not good I would chose C and this would continue throughout the book where I would chose the best future for my character in the book.
That would be great but the problem that’s a book and not real life…It can play out that way sometimes
We can chose option A and realized it is bad and change quickly BUT many times we don’t know the result of our decision for months or sometimes years.
What are we to do?
We don’t have the chose your own adventure book that you can cheat and change directions
we read in scripture
TRUST and FOLLOW THE LORD
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
We want to do that, but can we have some assurances for our FUTURE, WE WANT TO KNOW FROM SCRIPTURE, FROM GOD THAT WHERE WE ARE GOING TO IS GOING TO BE GOOD, RIGHT??
CAN WE HAVE ASSURANCES FROM GOD THAT IT IS GOING TO BE GOOD, MAYBE NOT IN THE MOMENT, BUT EVENTUALLY GOOD
YES
We do have assurances though out scripture
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
GOOD PATHS
It might not be immediate, sometimes we will face trails, but goodness always comes to those who love GOD
we read this in many people’s verses Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
What scripture says to us is?
I love what Paul writes “we know” five times it is said in Romans....”we know” this truth....Paul writes this right after Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
“we do not know what to pray”
Anybody been there??? good news Holy Spirit intercedes for us
What do we know??
From experience, from the cloud of witnesses, from scripture
- FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD…THIS IMPORTANT…highly important
This promise is contigent upon those who love God
Who are the people who love God??? Those who abide/remain the Lord…not just on Sundays or
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Those who keep His commandments
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
I say this because again I witness and see in with my own eyes and ears in face to face with people and social media
People who
There are many people who want this truth TRUE but they don’t love God....heart is far from God
WE CANNOT SAY THIS IS TRUE IF WE DO NOT TRULY LOVE GOD, AND THOSE WHO LOVE GOD
This promise is not true for those who do not love God, who hate God or
To love God is obey God
“ ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
What is the promise we know for those who love God?
God works all things together for your good!

Bad things turn to good
Good things can never be take from us
Best is yet to come
We say this amazing! This is wonderful!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
We know from our testimony that this is TRUE....this is good
We hold this true and then something happens to us, and it happens to me, as we start praising the Lord for the TRUTH of this verse and the TESTIMONY of our life, something starts to happen…we start looking into the future doesn’t look as bright as it once thought....it is looking rather storming and windly and hard…and what happens....DOUBT, I know God did it then but can He do it now....we might not say that....but in our hearts of hearts we say “yeah but”
anybody ever say “yeah but”
What does God say to our “yeah but” BUT GOD
YEAH BUT, BUT GOD
one of things we see repeated in scripture is us saying “yeah but” and God saying BUT GOD
I am going to cover 4 of those things today
We often say YEAH BUT, and GOD SAY BUT GOD
Impossible situation
anybody ever been in an impossible situation…you don’t see the way forward....it looks impossible
yeah God I know you work things for good “YEAH BUT” you don’t know how impossible this situation is
Money?
For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Feeding of ten thousand
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
THIS IS THE STORY AND ARCH OF SCRIPTURE
MAN IS IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION GOD DELIVERS THEM AND WORKS THINGS FOR GOOD
DANIEL IN THE LIONS DEN
ESTHER BEFORE KING XERXES
DAVID VS GOLIATH
ABRAHAM AND SARAH HAVING A BABY AT 90 AND 100 YEARS OLD AND THROUGH THEIR LINE WE GET JESUS
MOSES AND EGYPT
This is where we see the NATION of ISRAEL 4000 years ago when they are enslaved to the Nation of Egypt
Things are not looking good…looks they are doomed to slavery forever
Egypt is big
Then what does God do? He raise up a righteous redeemer from an unlikely person named Moses…God is going to chose Moses to deliever the nation of Israel out of slavery and how does God do that and what does Moses think of that?
He comes to Moses in the burning bush
I am going to call you to deliver the nation of Israel from slavery
What does Moses say, “Yes sir”
No…whom am I
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
God don’t you know how big that army is???? I am just one man
Then starts moving forward, but he starts to doubt again
Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you.’ ”
YEAH BUT,GOD THEY WON’T LISTEN TO ME!!! God gives them a sign to show them
Drop the staff onto the ground and it will turn into a snake and pick it up it will be a staff again
Put your hand in your cloak and take it back out and it will have lepersy and put it back in again and it will be healed
If they don’t believe you take water from the Nile and pour it out and it will be blood
What does Moses say....YEAH BUT
But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.”
Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?
Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”
But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.”
Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, “Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
YEAH BUT GOD I CAN’T SPEAK
First time God gets angry in the BIBLE when we MOSES didn’t believe God was the God of the impossible
Eventually Moses wakes up after this point and believes God of the impossilbe....not saying he didn’t have any other bumps in the road
yeah but with this impossible thing over and over
2. Yeah but you don’t know the evil I am facing
This is the story of Joseph...
Joseph is the youngest at the time of 11 brothers and he has a dream one day his brothers would bow down to him and how does his brothers respond....they sell him into slavery....and things get much worst for him while he is slavery…he gets falsly accused of trying to be intimate with Potiphars wife and goes to jail for 13 years.
Joseph had to be thinking God you gave me a dream but evil is preventing it
Evil from my brothers
Evil from Potiphars wife
But eventually he raises up to 2nd in command in all of Egypt and during that time his brothers needed to come to Egypt because their is a severe famine in the land and God gave Joseph the ability to interpret the dream to save up grain
Then they run into Joseph, not knowing they are going to run into Joseph…is Joseph going to get them back???
NO
But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God?
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
Some of you have this situation in your life....BUT GOD YOU DON’T KNOW THE EVIL I am up against and God says but God

5. .. YEAH BUT…we are dead in our sins, destinted for hell and seperation from God.
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—
among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
