Introduction
My brother and My sisters we are living in a day and age where it seems as though nothing is consistent. We are living in a day and age when it seems as though everything is constantly changing.
We have changed the way we have church, from not only in person but now even having virtual members. We have changed how we communicate. Most of us don't call or text anymore we send messages on Facebook, Instagram, and the likes. Believe it or not, even when we get a new car this year next year the model is going to change next year. A few weeks ago we found out that we found out that even time changes according to the season it’s in. If we are in the fall we fall back. If we are in spring we spring forward.
My brothers and sisters that is why you have to be careful of those who come in your life for a season. Because after their season is over they will change and move on to the next.
My brothers and sisters even in living in a changing world. We are even changing constantly our perceptions of things is not God's perception. If we look at our perception of our problems we will get discouraged and distracted.
That’s why the Bible says trust in the lord with all thine heart and lean not your understanding. Because even we can change our minds at times. One thing we must be sure of is That God has not changed.
Hebrews declares that he is the same yesterday today and forever more.
Not only does God not change we declare that his word has not changed. He declares in his word in Matthew that heaven and earth shall pass away but my word will remain. Because God has not changed we declare that the thoughts that he thinks of us have not changed.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 I know the thoughts that I think of you. Thought of peace and not of evil. To give you an expected in. My brothers and sisters, we must understand that God thinks of us. Not only does he thinks of us but he thinks positively about us.
Isn’t it wonderful to know that even with everything that’s going on in my life right now? I’m still on the mind of God.
Isn't it wonderful to know that the things that concern you, concern him?
I know you are saying how can God’s mind holds everybody in here in his mind. My brothers and sisters his mind is not like our mind. Isaiah 40:28 declares, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary. there is no searching of his understanding.
In other words, we shouldn’t even try to figure out the mind of God, we can’t search his understanding. How do you figure out the creator of heaven and earth? How do you figure out the being that breathed the breath of life into mankind? His mind is that powerful, his mind is that sovereign that he can speak to the wind and the wind blows. He can speak to the storm and the storm cease.
So we must understand that being in his mind is nothing to take lightly.
Contextual
We have here Israel where in a period of exile in which they had to experience 70 years. During the midst of this, they were faced with false prophets explaining to them that they will be receiving peace and restoration sooner than what God had told them.
Jeremiah however explains to them that restoration will come but not until they have gone through the seventy years.
However, Jeremiah confirms that through it all the result would be for their good and not for evil. Through all of this God still had a plan. Meaning that God was constructing everything for their good.
The Bible says that all things work together for those that Love the Lord.
Although we may not understand it it’s working for our Good.
It is through God’s planning process that most get discouraged. We want to get to the expected end without going through the planning and process of it. There is an end there is a beginning. However, in the middle is often when we are discouraged. The enemy’s job is to discourage you before you get through. You have to go through it to come out.
Can I encourage you to hang in there? We know that the Bible says that weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.
God has not changed his mind about you.
Here the text references the children of Israel.
He says I know the thoughts that I think of you thoughts of peace and not of Evil. To give you an expected end. I'm other words God has your best interest at heart
He wants what is best for you.
He works behind the scenes putting the pieces of our life together to work for our good.
Although this particular text is talking about Israel
Other individuals in the Bible may have thought God changed his mind about them.
Point 1.
The story of Job…….
He was a perfect and upright man.
He feared God and shunned evil.
The Bible declares that he was one of the greatest to everyone do that.
He was considered by God to be tempted by Satan.
The devil could take everything he had except take his life.
Job lost his livestock, His Children. Even his wife asked how could he hold on to his faith.
Job asked God. Why Have You Made Me Your Target”? (Job 7:20). In other words he may have been asking God. Have you changed your mind about me?
Job did not understand the phrase after you have suffered a little while then you can reign with him.
God made certain Job that he knew that he has not changed his mind Job when he blessed Job with double of what he had before.
Just as God didn’t change his mind about the job. He hasn’t changed his mind about you.
How many can testify that it does not matter what you lose? It does not matter the situation of your health. It does not matter if he conditions your family or your marriage. Maybe your situations are just like a job. However, I come to remind you that just like God hadn’t forgotten about Job. He hasn’t forgotten about you.
Point 2.
God told Abraham that he will make him a father of many nations in Genesis 17:4
However, as years went by Abraham not only did not have a father of many nations but they did not have a child at all. He and his wife Sarah was 90 years old and still haven’t conceived.
Because They may have thought God changed his mind concerning them. Sarah because she thought God changed his mind asked Abraham to go into Hagar their maidservants. However, that was not God's plan.
As soon as they thought it was over and they were too old, soon as it looked like it was over God blessed them with Isaac at the age of 90 years old.
How many know that when God has plans for your life it does not matter how old you are. It does not matter if you even go off track or if he said it if he has spoken it. It chalk comes to pass. He hasn’t changed his mind.
Point 3
I know a man
Most people would’ve thought God changed his mind about JESUS.
We know the story of how man fell into sin from the beginning of Genesis. Man needed someone to restore man to their rightful place in God.
He was sent to save us from our sins. However, he was crucified and hung between two thieves. Spit on, mocked, and scorned. However just when they thought God forgot about him he got up on the third day with all power in his hands.
Closing:.
I once once about a man walking on the sand with God, this man would often look down and see two sets of footprints
He explained that during the most difficult times when he thought God had forgotten about him, he would look down and only see one set. God to reminded him that it was in those times that you thought I forgot about him. I carried you.
Just as God didn't change his mind about Job. He Change his mind about you, Just as God didn’t change his mind about Joseph, He did not change his mind about you, Just as God didn't change his mind about Abraham he hasn’t changed his mind about you. it about
You Just as God didn’t change his mind about Jesus. He hasn’t changed his mind about you
He said you are the lender and not the borrower, The head and not the tails. Above and not Beneath.
He calls us a Royal Priesthood in 1st Peter 2:9
He says he chose us before the foundation of the earth in Ephesians 1
He says we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works In Ephesians 2
He said he will never leave us nor forsake us in Deuteronomy 31
He calls us a precious treasure in Exodus 19
He says he cares for us so much that he knows the number of hairs on your head in Matthew 10
Don't think you're in it alone.
He has changed his mind about your family.
About your business.
About your marriage.
About your family
About your health.
Hang on in there you're on his mind
