Opening Prayer
Father, we come to you this morning asking for you to be with us.
We turn to you who is our strength the source of life ---. I pray for the family that you would bring comfort and peace..
we thank you for the assurance of faith that we have the Hope of the cross and the death of your Son. knowing that Jesus rose on the third day, never to die again. We cling to his promise, that “Because you live, we also shall live.”.
Comfort us in our loss, deepen our trust in our Savior; and strengthen our resolve to live for you.
In Jesus name we pray.
I would like to read..
Psalms 121 is a psalm of Ascent -
Ps. 121 is a beautiful song of trust and confidence in God. It is one of the most cherished of Bible poems in the entire heritage of Hebrew poetry.
David composed Ps. 121 in the Wilderness of Paran, immediately after learning of the death of Samuel (PP 664).
When David realized that his last influential earthly friend was gone, he turned to the Lord for his sole remaining help.
The psalm has been a great blessing to countless thousands who at one time or another have found themselves in circumstances more or less similar to those in which the psalmist finds himself.
Psalm 121 (ESV)
A Song of Ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
May the lord bless this reading from his word...
Message
A few weeks ago I met with Marilyn, Chuck and Susan… One thing that Chuck said resonated with me… that Clinton had a quite but impactful Faith… part of that came from his relationship with Jesus.. He spent time everyday in devotions and prayer.. and it reflected in his life ..
Clinton had faith that had substance
In Hebrews 11… is the Where we have this amazing Chapter of those who lived with Faith..
We are told that faith is in the present tense… faith is now..
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation.
Faith is the assurance Of things Hope for..
…assurance
Assurance is our reaction to the gift of salvation and a reflection of our trust in Christ.
faith is conviction..
A conviction is not truly a conviction unless it includes a commitment to live by what we claim to believe.
Ever since a young age, Clinton walked steadfastly with the Lord - Clinton lived his life with humble and tender faith… He reflected Christ in his relationships.
The best leaders lead by example.. the best leaders have humility..
When CLINTON was in the air force he went from maintenance officer to Captain… He was a successful rice farmer and businessman.. He led as chairman of the overseers leadership - but also volunteered on the nursery..
He was an example to his family…
He was an example to those in our church and community..
He was an example to those who worked the rice industry, He served as the chairman of the Church board…
you go through that list - you will fomd men and woman— Who endured many diffiiculties!
Clinton's life serves example of this kind of faith.
Despite facing numerous challenges and enduring prolonged pain, he held onto his faith with unwavering conviction.
He drew strength from his relationship with God, finding solace and hope in the knowledge that there was a greater plan at work.
As I think about Clinton's perseverance, I am reminded that faith is not measured by the absence of difficulties, but by how we choose to respond to them.
It is in the midst of our darkest moments that the true depth of our faith is revealed.
Clinton's unwavering trust in God's goodness and his refusal to be defined by his circumstances inspire me to face my own challenges with courage and resilience.
Clinton faith taught us that faith is not just a concept to hold onto when times are easy. It is a daily choice to anchor myself in the belief that God is with me, even when the road ahead seems daunting.
Faith that holds on to and hope and comfort from a loving God who walks with us every step of the journey..
Faith is to believe what we do not see. The reward of this faith is to see what we believe.
—Augustine
Augustine of Hippo
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Today, as we honor Clinton's life, may his unwavering faith inspire us to live boldly, guided by faith. May we find comfort in knowing that, just as Clinton's faith carried him through the darkest of days, our own faith can guide us through the challenges we encounter.
we give thanks for his legacy that serves as a reminder to embrace faith, persevere in my own race, and live a life that brings honor and glory to God.
HONOR GUARD
Committal
In the light of the promises God has given us in His Word and in as much as it has pleased the Lord to take from us, the one whom we have loved, we now commit Clinton to you.
We believe in the Resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.. We have a sure and certain hope that just as Jesus lived, died and was the first to rise from the dead, we too shall have new life and will join our heavenly Father.
We now entrust Clinton to the care of Almighty God and we ask Our Father to open the doors to his mansion and lead Clinton to the room made ready just for her.
As we now commit her body to its final resting place; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, we commend Nadine spirit to its new home.
Eternal Rest and may Your light shine upon her. These things we ask in the name of the King of kings and Lord of lords, even in Christ our Savior.
Amen.
Benediction!
