Romans 4:1-8

God has always worked the same way, and you can be certain it won’t change

Example of Abraham (vv. 1-3)

Righteousness is required, but Abraham lacked righteousness (Josh. 24:1-2; Gen. 16:1-2)

This flawed man was still counted righteous by a righteous God

How could this be?

Abraham believed (Gen. 12:1-4)

Oh, how beautifully simple this is! (Lk. 23:39-43)

Works vs. Faith (vv. 4-5)

Works demand a just payment

This is NOT what you want (Rom. 6:20-23)

A broken and contrite heart is who the gift is given to, and the gift is what you desperately need (Eph. 2:1-9)

Blessed is the Man (vv. 6-8)

We now stand in the grace of God almighty! (Rom. 4:23-5:2)

Not relying on my works, but on the perfect work of Christ, I am blessed!

Get up out of your sin and trust in Christ!
