God has always worked the same way, and you can be certain it won’t change
Example of Abraham (vv. 1-3)
Righteousness is required, but Abraham lacked righteousness (
Josh. 24:1-2
;
Gen. 16:1-2
)
This flawed man was still counted righteous by a righteous God
How could this be?
Abraham believed (
Gen. 12:1-4
)
Oh, how beautifully simple this is! (
Lk. 23:39-43
)
Works vs. Faith (vv. 4-5)
Works demand a just payment
This is NOT what you want (
Rom. 6:20-23
)
A broken and contrite heart is who the gift is given to, and the gift is what you desperately need (
Eph. 2:1-9
)
Blessed is the Man (vv. 6-8)
We now stand in the grace of God almighty! (
Rom. 4:23-5:2
)
Not relying on my works, but on the perfect work of Christ, I am blessed!
Get up out of your sin and trust in Christ!
