Sharing the Gospel

Last week you should have written about 20 names on your first sheet in your workbook.

Today we will move towards the next steps.

How many of us had at least one person with an “X” beside their name?

How many of us had at least one person with a “?” beside their name?

So our next step would be to look at/pray over those with those two marks beside their name.

To finish step one, select the one person you would like to concentrate on reaching.

How do I share the Gospel?

Let’s begin by naming Gospel musts:

Sin

Judgment /Death

Atonement

Faith/Repentance

So, if these are Gospel musts…then they must be part of what we share with others.

I want to start with the wooden bare facts with some scripture.

We will add new parts over the next few weeks.

Sin

Every person on the face of the planet today, in years past, and in the years to come has sinned.

Romans 3:23 (ESV)

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Sin came into the world through one man. This same sin carries forward.

Judgement/Death

Romans 5:12 (ESV)

12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

Newton’s third law of motion teaches for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Romans 6:23 (ESV)

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In essence, what we have earned for our sin is death. Not just any death, but eternity away from God in Hell.

Atonement

Atonement — the work Christ did in his life and death to earn our salvation.

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (ESV)

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,

4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

1 Peter 3:18 (ESV)

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

His death, burial, and resurrection were enough.

Hebrews 9:22 ESV

22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

John 3:16 (ESV)

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Faith/Repentance

We are saved by faith, not works.

Ephesians 2:8–9 (ESV)

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Luke 13:3 ESV

3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Faith & Repentance happen simultaneously and they continue perpetually.

How do we use this?

Small talk transitioning?

Ask a question and earn the right to be heard by giving a listen:

“In your personal opinion, what do you understand it takes for a person to spend eternity with Jesus and go to heaven?”

Second Transition:

“I would like to share with you how the Bible answers that question if that is all right.”

“We can use one simple word as an acronym: FAITH”

F — Forgiveness

A — Available

I — Impossible

T— Turn

H— Heaven

Presentation

Forgiveness- No one can have eternal life without God’s forgiveness.

Ephesians 1:7 ESV

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Available - Available but not Automatic

Whoever believes.

John 3:16 ESV

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

It’s not automatic.

Matthew 7:21 ESV

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Impossible-It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven.

God is:

Love— John 3:16

Just — James 2:13

13 For judgment is without mercy...

Man is Sinful — Rom. 3:23

Romans 3:23 ESV

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Question: “How can a sinful person enter heaven, where God allows no sin?”

Turn- Change Direction

If you were heading the wrong way you would — change direction

Turn = Repent

Turn from sin/self

Luke 13:3 (ESV)

3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Turn to Christ

1 Corinthians 13:3–4 ESV

3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant

Romans 10:9 (ESV)

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Turn = Repent/Believe/Faith

Heaven = Eternal Life

John 10:10 ESV

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Hereafter

John 14:3 ESV

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

How?
