Confidence in God

What it means to put your confidence in God.

Psalm 118:5–9 NKJV

5 I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? 7 The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me. 8 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.

Hebrews 10:35 “35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.”

There is no consideration of ones stregth when one has confidence in God

One is keenly aware of one’s own inadequency

Confidence in God is not based on ignorance but in the knowdge of who God is.

Exodus 3:11–12 (NKJV)

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

12 So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

11 So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?

“By his hand” instead of “through his hand”

16 And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

Isaiah 30:15 (NKJV)

15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,

The strength of God’s people is their quiet confidence in God. “be still and know that I am God”.
