Introduction

Have you ever gone without WiFi?
Our phones cannot connect to the internet without WiFi.
Our phones cannot call or text without connectivity.
In a similar fashion, we cannot connect with God or other people because of the sin in our lives.
Explain Genesis 1-3.

What is Sin?

Human activity that is contrary to God’s will.

Did Adam and Eve die immediately after sinning? Do we?

Who Does Sin Effect?

According to God, sin effects and infects us all.
Romans 3:10 ESV
as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;
What does it mean to be “righteous”?

Righteousness is the conformity or obedience to a standard or obligation that is normally understood to be morally good, such that the expectations and requirements of relationship toward God and neighbor are satisfied.

Righteousness is being in a right-relationship with God.
Why aren’t we in a right-relationship with God?
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
We broke God’s law! We are criminals!
What happens to criminals?
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But what is death?

Death is the cessation of life. Humans are subject to physical death as well as a second spiritual death unless redeemed in Christ. Those without Christ are considered dead (spiritually) even while physically living.

Without Jesus, we are all spiritually dead.
