To day 1 John 4:7 Dear friends, we should love each other, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has become God’s child and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
This is the way it ought to be with Christians. Because Love comes from God and God is Love. If you look out over your church and everybody is mean to each other then there is no love there. And sometimes stuff and things and other people can cause us to develop resentment and separation and then forget to let brotherly love continue like the bible says. I’m not perfect but I know the formula, I love you you love me we’re great big family with a hug and a kiss from me to you won’t you say you love me too. It’s a simple jingle but a great truth. In this key verse I found several things. let’s read the text again. In 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. John starts off telling the church that he pastors “Beloved” He doesn’t say Heathens, Rotten no Good , low down dirty folk. But rather John says Beloved, Brothers and sisters Beloved in the Greek vernacular is Transliteration: agapētos Phonetic Pronunciation: ag-ap-ay-tos’

ag ga pay toss and it means it a term of endearment Deep brotherly affection it’s like how you feel about your blood brother or your blood sister. And John is saying that as the overseer of the congregation he has Ag ga pay toss for his church. Beloved meaning I love you with the agape love with God’s love and here are the Lord’s directives to you coming from me. John says Let us Love one another. And what’s prompting this conversation to happen whereas John addresses the church in this manner? Why is it so imperative that the church know that Love is of God and that God is Love and if you don’t have love for your brothers and your sisters you don’t have God’s love in you?

For me I always go back to the point of origin to find pertinent facts to support the theological case. Turn to 1 John 1:1 John is testifying that Jesus the Christ was from the beginning . John said we heard about Him. we more effectively saw everything He did with our own eyes. We were eye witnesses to Him Power. We were able to tangibly touch and feel and handle Him and we realized that Jesus is the Word of Life.. Then in verse 2. John said Theologically speak God The Son manifested Himself in Human Flesh to show mankind a pathway to salvation a pathway to eternal Life. God the Father needed a scapegoat, a redeemer, a kinsman redeemer, God needed a propitiation, a substitutionary sacrificial Lamb to pay for the ransom for mankind’s sin debt.

And explain God’s plan for Salvation as a Trinitarian Act.

V 3 John explains the wonderful miraculous things he’s seen and heard and John wants the congregation to experience with him by having a real relationship and fellowship with God the Father through God the Son Jesus Christ. V4 John says I’m writing this to you because I want your joy to full like my joy is full. And that is key to our witnessing portion of ministry. We truly want to see people experience the joy of the Lord in their lives.

Then vs 5-10 Here is the message we have heard from Christ and now announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. 6 So if we say we have fellowship with God, but we continue living in darkness, we are liars and do not follow the truth. 7 But if we live in the light, as God is in the light, we can share fellowship with each other. Then the blood of Jesus, God’s Son, cleanses us from every sin.8 If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God’s teaching.

I see several things in the text in verses 5-10 God Forgives Our Sins 1. John said Listen church I recieved the message from Jesus Christ and I’m delivering it to you. ( Don’t shoot the mail man for delivering the mail). 2.in verse 5 John declares that God is Light. And you won’t find any darkness in God!!!

3.in verse 6 You can’t just say I live in the light but have darkness in your life because it cuts off fellowship with God and God calls us a big fat liar. They that worship God must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Because Jesus said I am the way the Truth and the life no man comes to the Father but by Me. In other words our talk with God has to match our walk with God. 4. In verse 7 If we live like God, IN THE LIGHT then the bible says it’s easier to have fellowship with each other 5. in verse 7 John say then the blood of Jesus, God’s Son , it will cleanse us from all sin and unrighteousness. What can wash away my sins nothing but the Blood of Jesus. I ask God everyday Please Lord cleanse me from every one of my sins. 5. In verse 8. John said if we say that we do not have any sin at all John said we are fooling ourselves and we’re sure enough full of lies. Because everybody who has read the word knows that in my flesh dwells no good thing. Romans say all have sinned and come short of the glory of God nobody is all that right!!! So 6. in verse 9 John say But if we confess our sins… People first of all don’t want nobody to know that they have sinned. 2. Tell you all my sins so they can be all over town. 3. I hate telling the truth about myself… that I ain’t really no good.

7. in verse 9 God will forgive our sins.. Thank you Lord 3x Ooo Jesus you looked pass my faults my flaws my fizzures, failures and forgave my sins.

8. In verse 9 in the c clause we can trust God to always do thee right thing. WE may mess up but we can always trust God to be God.. That a relief because what if God changes His mind on when to forgive and when to pardon and when to give grace and when to give mercy…We’d be in a pickle.

9. in verse 9 say that God will cleanse us from all wrong doing.sins of commission then finally 10 in verse 10 we can’t go around saying that we don’t have any sin, because that makes God out of a liar, and it’s like we’re trying to strip God of one of His ubiquitous natures Omniscience God knows everything about anything that’s known that can be knowable. So don’t say I don’t have no sins because the word of God teaches talks and tells us our true status.

Chapter 2 Jesus is our Helper an Advocate
Chapter 2 Jesus is our Helper an Advocate
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1. Why does John address the people in this text as my little children? 2. What is John’s directive? what is John telling them not to do? The John says But if we sin which is an indicator that we will sin

3. We have an Advocate in Jesus Christ. We have somebody who understands and stands in the gap for us… Thank you Jesus… The bible says He is our Propitiation for our sins.

4. Exactly what does that mean? It means that Jesus is the substitute. He takes my place when I have to stand in the Judgement before a Perfect God who does not tolerate any sin.... And so God’s Son who knew no sin became sin for the sins of the whole world.

5. In verse 3 How can we tell if we truly know God? Talk is cheap we have to keep God’s commandments. That part doesn’t change>>> I know grace and mercy abound but trying to live according to the Commandments is a process and a commitment.
